RAINBOW ALLIANCE LAUNCHES “I AM SOMEBODY YOUTH POWER CAMPAIGN”

IPNEWS: The Rainbow Alliance has launched what it describes as the “I Am Somebody Youth Power Campaign”, a strategy designed to encourage the development of self-esteem, confidence, and respect in the youths of Liberia.

According to Z. Kwaque Coleman, National Vice Chairman for Public Affairs, the campaign was launched in Miatta Town, Todee, District No. 1, Montserrado County, over the weekend by the Standard Bearer of the Rainbow Alliance, Reginald B. Goodridge, Sr.

In a keynote statement during the occasion, Hon. Goodridge noted that unless the young people of Liberia receive proper education, the future of the country is doomed.  He said the critical aspects of improving education for young people are a retraining teacher and increasing their salary and benefits, the provision of laboratories in all high schools and colleges and setting up libraries across the country.

Hon. Goodridge said the CDC government has betrayed the young people of Liberia by ignoring their education, but instead, is spending millions of US dollars on useless vanity projects, and foreign trips for the benefit of the enjoyment of the elites.

During the launch of the “I Am Somebody Youth Power Campaign,” the Rainbow Alliance donated T-shirts, copybooks, and pencils to dozens of elementary school students, and made a commitment to provide medical supplies for the community and help improve the school facilities.

The occasion was graced by Town chiefs from seven clans around Todee, District Education Officers, medical practitioners, youth and women organizations, and a host of well-wishers.

In several remarks, the Chiefs, Elders, and heads of organizations present applauded the historic efforts of the Rainbow Alliance for selecting the remote township of Miatta Town to launch the youth power campaign. They noted that, unlike other political parties that focus their resources in Monrovia, the Rainbow Alliance has given respect to rural dwellers to help open the eyes of underprivileged children.
