A Joke: CDC’s Quest to “Bring ANC Back” Ivah Tukpah

-Ellen’s Hands at Play?

A stalwart of the Alternative National Congress (ANC), Mr. Isaac Vah Tukpah, has termed Jefferson Koijee’s disclosure of the ruling Congress for Democratic Change’s (CDC) quest to “bring ANC back”, as a joke.

The main founders of the ANC, including Cllr. Lafayette Horatio Gould, Mr. Henry Pedro Costa, etc, all broke away from the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) and established the ANC, when they became disenchanted with some of their colleagues within the CDC. Ivah, himself, as Isaac Vah Tukpah is affectionately known among his peers, is one of the founding members of the Congress for Democratic Change.

So, after it emerged that the CDC Secretary General, Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson T. Koijee had disclosed that his party is in talks with ANC to bring it back into the fold, there was a swift response from the ANC National Secretary General, Cllr. Aloysius Toe.

“The Alternative National Congress (ANC) has become aware of statement being made [by] CDC Secretary General, Jefferson Koijee, that the CDC is contemplating a collaboration with the ANC. The ANC emphatically states in no uncertain terms that it rejects any such contemplation, and restates its commitment to making the George Weah-led administration a one-term administration.

Such statement from the CDC is clear indication of the CDC’s fear of an imminent opposition/Cummings victory in 2023, and a further extension of CDC’s tactics and game plan to bring about disruption within the opposition community.

The ANC urges its partisans and supporters not to be deterred by the propaganda being espoused by the leadership of the CDC; and to remain calm and focused.

The ANC remains committed to the partnership of the CPP, and continues to work towards a broader opposition collaboration and ultimate win, come 2023.”

Secretary General of CDC, Jefferson T. Koijee

However, Koijee later insisted following the release of the ANC statement to the media: “I don’t eat my words; I will definitely bring ANC back to CDC in my capacity as Secretary General of the Party.”

Responding further to Koijee’s assertion, Tukpah, who was Mr. Alexander Benedict Cummings’ Special Aide until his controversial book on President George Weah’s private life drew ire from the public further stated, “Listen to what Jefferson T. Koijee said, the CDC is contemplating (da my pekin so I way hep him) on bringing the ANC to the Coalition because ‘the ways to change this country is for us to come together with people who have what it takes to change the country.’”

His second point was that his “first approach is to bring the ANC to the Coalition for Democratic Change.” What a joke!!!

Two things: 1. Koijee recognizes that the ANC has what it takes to change Liberia; and 2. Koijee is sending a subtle message to Jorweah that he should not be so selfish that the CDC should only be about Weah’s ambition and decisions should not be about what Weah wants. Koijee’s desire is for the CDC to not be about only Weah’s interest as their individual and the party’s future is on the line too so the CDC needs to create a working environment that ensures the CDC becomes an institution and not a Weah cult or fan club.

But, my pekin Koijee, this message is late. Weah and the CDC have failed. It’s time for exit!!

Former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Former VP Joseph Boakai

Ellen’s Hand in the Plot?

There have been unconfirmed reports that former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is behind such move by the CDC to get ANC back to their fold so as to deny her former Vice President, Ambassador Joseph Nyumah Boakai from ascending to the nation’s Presidency. Presently, it is inarguable that Mr. Boakai now heads the largest opposition political party — the former ruling Unity Party, which until 2017, was led by Madam Sirleaf. Unity Party carried her twice as its Standard Bearer and she served two six-year terms as President of Liberia.

It’s glaringly known that Mrs. Sirleaf played a major role in Weah ascending to power and that she is believed to be Godmother of Mr. Cummings, who now heads ANC as its Standard Bearer.

Ellen’s former Vice President hails from Lofa County, where the he got most of his votes from in the 2017 Presidential race. Recently, impeccable sources within the Liberia National Union (LINU), another opposition party that has most of its roots from Lofa, confided in the authoritative Independent Probe Newspaper of the former President allegedly trying to use Dr. Clarence Moniba, son of late Vice President Henry Fombah Moniba, to undercut the presidential ambition of Amb. Boakai.

The sources stated that the former President is allegedly at the center of this conspiracy to divide the Gbandi ethnic belt against the wishes and aspiration of an anticipated all-Lofa support for Boakai. Lofa has some of the highest voting populations in the country.
