Edwin Martin has swiftly moved restoring some level of integrity at the LACC beginning with the indictment of officials at the Liberia Aviation Authority (IAA), the arrest of the Managing Director of the Liberia Transit Authority (NTA), and subsequent issuance of a public notice to government officials to declare their assets before September 1, 2021.
Amidst all this, credible sources at both the LACC and LISGIS have hinted IPNEWS that the commissions has ordered the commencement of an in-depth investigation into alleged report of missing US$ 200,000.00 corruption scandal at the Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo-Information Services (LISGIS).
It may be recalled, report emerged on August 10, 2021, of an allegedly disappearance of US$200,000.00 from the Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo-Information Services (LISGIS), which is intended to support the forthcoming National Housing and Census survey .
According to sources, the money disappeared over the last three weeks, a situation that led the officers of the Liberia National Police (LNP) to launch an investigations with the institution’s security guards who were on duty the night when the US$200,000 vanished.
In a rather angry tone, a lady only identified as the Public Relations stated that the information were untrue. But contrary to this, sources at both the LACC and LISGIS told IPNEWS that indeed an investigation into the disappearance of the US$200, 000.00 has gotten underway following a preliminary investigation launched by officer of the Criminal investigation division of the Liberia national Police.
The reported disappearance of US$200,000.00 from LISGIS comes in the wake of claims and counter claims of another US$ 200,000.00 which has gone missing at the Buchanan port.
