IPNEWS: The Unity Party strongly condemns the Thursday, April 25, 2024 protest staged by some partisans of the Margibi Chapter, allegedly rejecting appointments of individuals made by the President of the Republic of Liberia, H.E Joseph Nyuma Boakai to the local government structure of the county.
The party stated that while it is true Liberians, including Partisans of the Unity Party have the right to seek redress on the governance of the state, it must be noted that the constitution bequeathed unto the President the power to appoint and dismiss at will.
During the 2023 presidential and legislative elections, the UP promised a unified and inclusive government regardless of political and ethnic affiliations. The Party still stands by these promises and trusts the wisdom of its Standard Bearer and President of the Republic of Liberia in the formation of his government.
The UP admonishes all partisans and Liberians at large with grievances of any kind to use constructive dialogue and engagement as the appropriate channels for addressing their grievances and fostering positive change within our society.
furthermore, the Unity Party calls on all Partisans to refrain from engaging in activities aimed at undermining the presidency and the government.
“We assures partisans and supporters alike that it will continue to engage with the office of the President with the desire to find opportunities for partisans while also ensuring that the President’s commitment of inclusive government is achieved.” Portion of the release read.
Additionally, the UP calls on our precious partisans to work together in solidarity to support the President as he strives to implement policies geared to transforming the lives of all Liberians.
