IPNews-Gbarpolu County: Gbarpolu county Senator Armah Z. Jallah, has broken grounds for the construction of a 15 kilometer road in Borliah town, Gounwolalila district, Gbarpolu County.

At the ceremony held on the road leading from Dorkorta to Kpayeaquelleh over the weekend in Gounwolalila district, Sen. Jallah said, the connection of roads in the county is the best way to contribute to the development of the county.

According to him, after completing the road from Dorkorta to Kpayeaquelle, Gbetelemue, Kpayeaquelle to ST. Paul and other surrounding towns and villages, it was now time for the citizens of Borliah to benefit from his gesture.

Senator Armah Zolu Jallah placed the cost of the 15 kilometer road to a little over thirty five thousand United States Dollars ($35,000 USD).

He further named the of road from Sawmil to Compusue, the road from Mulbahta to Nyenforta, the road from White town to Sando Village and the 15 kilometer road from White Flower to Gbalasuah, as major road projects he has undertaken in the county.

The Gbarpolu County senator said, even though the construction of road is not part of his legislative responsibilities, but he considers road connectivity as a major priority to citizens of the county.
He believes that when farm to market roads are connected, citizens will have the opportunity to take their locally produced commodities to transact for their survivability.

Senator Jallah noted that the accessibility of roads in the county will further address the needs and wants of citizens in the county.

The former Liberian senate Pro Tempore reaffirmed his continuous commitment to lobbying with former vice president Joseph Nyumah Boakai to provide a ferry in mid-October of this year to ease the tensions citizens undergo in their local travels.

“I have already spoken with former VP Boakai to give us a ferry. He has agreed to provide it for the betterment of you people. So by next month, we expect for the ferry to be here with us to do the installation. After this now, cars will start to ply this road” senator Jallah reaffirmed.

According to him, the ferry will be installed over St. Paul for citizens to have easy access to the nation’s capital by passing through Bong County.

Meanwhile, senator Jallah is admonishing citizens of the county to avoid the petty politics and consider the connection of roads as a gateway to the county’s development.

In separate remarks, the citizens described the groundbreaking ceremony as a ‘historic day’ stating that, since the generation of their forefather till present, it will be the first time for motorbike or vehicle to enter their town.

They consider the connection of roads in the county as a relief, owning to the fact that their pregnant women and other sick people will no longer be transported in hammer.

“We have to walk for at least three (3) hours to access medication. Most often, we will have to carry pregnant women or girls in hammer because we have been cutoff for over centuries. This road will bring overwhelming developments in this part of Gbarpolu County” the citizens, mostly leaders averred.

The jubilating and excited citizens of Borliah however pledged that they will forever remain grateful for the transformation Senator Jallah has made in their lives.

According to them, he has been involved in the construction of an elementary school that is currently operating in Sawmill, the construction of additional 12 classroom school between Tawallata and Gbaleta and the construction of a modern town hall in Henry’s Town as facilities that are providing relief to them in the county.

The citizens also mentioned that in 2013, Senator Armah Zolu Jallah provided micro finance in the sum of one million to empower women in Beatoe, Zuo, Gbarma Vaye Town, parker’s town, Maboi town, and others, a gesture that they are still benefiting.

The citizens however believe these different developmental undertakings of Senator Jallah can’t go unnoticed adding that it has already paved his way for second term senatorial bid comes December 8.

Earlier, Senator Armah Zolu Jallah provided a Parsun machine model 9.9 worth a little over three thousand United States dollars to residents of Dorkorta, Goawulalah district geared towards easing the burden on the citizens.

He also maintained that the Parsun model 9.9 machine will curtail the risks of crossing water in canoes with more than five persons.

The creation of Gbarpolu County in 2001 was the result of a pledge made by Senator Armah Zolu Jallah to his people in the by-election to replace Eddingto Varmah; which he won about 70%.

Senator Armah Zolu Jallah has been instrumental in the Liberian senate including the supporting of a bill for the establishment of a National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) intended to bring experienced personnel into the security sector, advocating for the reform to the act creating the National Commission on Human Rights to conform to international standards, advocating for a small regulatory government with a large market economy, opposing the strategic Commodity Bill intended to nationalize all private rights in the country as well as opposing the new forestry reform Law of Liberia, intended to sequester private property rights to logging companies.
