Desperate Voyage! CDC seeks Ex-Rebel Generals Support to defeat Dillon

IPNews-Monrovia: The authoritative Independent Probe has unearthed what seem to be an all out ‘desperate voyage’, by the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change-CDC to reclaim its once stronghold Motserrado County from Liberty party’s Abraham Darius Dillon in the ensuing mid-term Senatorial Election by holding secret meetings with Ex-rebel Generals.

According to sources within the CDC, the party in an attempt to recalibrate its strategy held the meeting over the weekend with the ex-rebel Generals in the Paynesville suburb and on Benson Street, in Central Monrovia, cashing out a mouth watering LRD 150, 000 as inducement to rally support among its men for the victory of its presumptive candidate, Thomas Fallah, District No. 5, Montserrado County.

It is no secret that the ruling party in recent days has developed extra anxiety and deep political quest to retake Montserrado county, however, what is even more troubling is that the ruling party has already started parading with this presumptive candidate, spreading kind gestures and goodwill as well as holding closed-door meetings with several groups’ of interest with the same objective without holding a primary.

It may be recalled, a Steward of the ruling CDC, Deputy Minister for Trade, at the Ministry of Commerce, Jamama Wolokollie, accused the leadership of the CDC of being trabalistic and selective during its primaries. A claim the Party’s Chairman Mulbah Morlu has since rejected.

However, as the party move into a vegorious campaign mode, one stalwart of the CDC who has been at the forefront of such intensive engagement is, Senator Saah Joseph, popularly known as ‘Ebola Hero.’

It has been speculated already that Sen. Saah Joseph who also a member of Thomas Fallah kissi triba group fom Lofa County, has embarked on a massive campaign to ensure that his kinsman, emerge as the next Senator of Montserrado.

Inside sources within the CDC have informed IPNews that Saah Joseph in this quest o ensure his kinsman wins the Party’s candidature, has promised the party that he will lead efforts to retake Montserrado, with a vigorous outreach of both Saah and Fallah with small groups being no exception. Recently the United Methodist Human Rights Monitor Group warned of devastating consequences for Liberia’s security sector with the continued recruitment of ex-rebel fighters into the security sector.

As the ensuing Montserrado County midterm senatorial elections come alive on December 8, the holding of secret meeting with ex-rebel generals at their local chamber has risen eyebrows, especially with cashing out huge sums of 150,000 Dollars.

A United Nations report puts an estimated number of 35. 000 ex-rebel generals rooming Liberia, which post continued threats to the sustainability of genuine peace in tje country especially the lack of jobs and other worsening living conditions.

In attempt to get sides of the pairs has proven fruitless as  the two lawmakers, Sen. Joseph and Rep. Fallah, have failed to answer their calls or respond to SMS messages sent to address the panic associated with their visit to the ex-rebel generals, and to provide clarity on why the meeting was held behind closed-door ahead of a crucial midterm elections.

It maby also be recalled, in recent time, Sen. Joseph had accompanied the CDC’s presumptive Senatorial candidate at almost every gathering, mostly open to the Liberian media. However, what remain more worrisome is the holding of an alleged secret meeting with ex-rebel generals, who had earlier threatened to lead covert activities against Liberian citizens, further heighten the panic.

One person who has quickly expressed shock over the alleged meeting with ex-rebel generals, is Senator Abraham Darius Dillon.

In a recent social media post, the lawmaker indicated that is was unfortunate that his colleagues could go to that length in building alliance ahead of the December 2020 midterm elections.

“I am shocked but not disappointed. I am shocked only because I didn’t expect that you would allow yourself to go at such length.”

“We have been credibly informed about the discussion and the amount you dishes to them,’ Sen. Dillon said.

It may firther be  recalled, In April 2019, Ex-rebel Generals issued a 72-hour ultimatum to Montserrado District #10 Representative Yekeh Kolubah to arrest him. Rep. Kolubah had earlier Kolubah had earlier accused the ex-militants of receiving money from Liberia’s Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Nathaniel McGill, for the purpose of going after people who are constantly criticizing President George Weah.

In his exact statement, the chairman of the Ex-generals and former chief of staff of Liberia United for Reconciliation and Democracy (LURD), Ofori Diah, gave the Montserrado County lawmaker a 72-hour ultimatum to report to their Head Office on Benson.

Said Diah: “We give Yakeh Kolubah 72 hours to report to our office. If he does not report to my office; we will bring him by force.”

Later in November 2019, Ex-rebel general Augustine Nagbe, notoriously known as “General Power” who hails from Grand Kru County threatened to organize members of his ethnic group to form a force that would rise in defense of President George Manneh Weah, should anyone try to attack him.

Given the most recent threatening statements from the ex-rebel generals, it is even more scaring for any of the political actors to hold alleged secret meetings in their chamber. (Courtney of maxonlinetv & IPNews)
