IPNews-Monrovia-Liberia-8Novemeber 2018: The Liberia National Police, through its spokesman H. Moses Carter has denied reports that police assault gun AK-47 and other weaponry were taken away by unknown persons.
Carter stated that contrary to reports that unknown person had taken one of its arms, the AK-47 rifle was forcibly taken by attackers from one of its officers during an incident which was immediately retrieved by officers of the LNP.
“The LNP likes to confirmed that an AK-47 rifle carried by one of our PSU officer was forcibly taken away by attackers when some persons brutalized this officer, but immediately our officers,retrieved AK-47 rifle. So than, we like to clarify here members of the Press that the LNP is fully in control of this matter while an full scale investigation is underway.” said Moses Carter.
It can be recalled, on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, police Spokesman at a press briefing stated that, seven PSU officers including a court officer, were severely wounded, stabbed and brutally wounded in their legs, foreheads and severely beaten by attackers in the Chicken soup factory community.
“The attackers forcibly went away with one of the police assigned AK-47 rifle, one muscle blast gas launcher and a black riot shield including cell phones” Carter told reporters.
The officers had gone to Bassa Town, Chicken Soup Factory, Gardnerville to serve as a backup for the sheriffs of Civil Law Court who had gone to carry out the execution of a writ of possession.
At that press conference, the police spokesman stated that Commissioner Jerry Quaqua and his fellow attackers violently attacked the police officers on grounds that the Court officers and the LNP were in error to evict them.
Police Spokesman, “the LNP condemns in the strongest term such barbaric attack on its officers and will do everything humanly possible to ensure the perpetrators of such assault face the full weight of the law.
