PNews-Monrovia,Liberia-30 September 2018: The Board of the Directors of National Lottery Authority has endorsed President George M. Weah’s recent appointment of Mr. Neved Kortu as Deputy Director General for operation at the entity.
The Board headed by the Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of Vice President Chief Dr Jewel Howard-Taylor, T. Titus Charley, reached the decision Friday during its regular Board meeting.
A release from the office of the Board Chairman explained that Mr. Neved Kortu replaces Madam Agnes Effiong whose tenure has since expired at the NLA.
Section 8.2 of the amended Act creating the National Lottery Authority authorizes the Board of Directors to appoint a Deputy Director General for operation as Principal Deputy to the Director General for an initial term of two years and could be reappointed based on performance. It also states that he or she shall serve at the will and pleasure of the Board of Directors.
President Weah two months ago, constituted the Board of Directors of the Agency appointing Mr. T. Titus Charley, Senior Policy Staff in the office of the Vice President as Chairman of the Board of the National Lottery Authority.
Other members of the Board include Samuel D. Tweah, Jr. Minister of Finance & Development Planning, Statutory Member; Cllr. Frank Musah Dean Jr., Minister of Justice, Statutory Member; Williametta Saydee-Tarr, Minister of Gender, Statutory Member; David K. Vinton, Liberia Chamber of Commerce, Member; Cllr. Jerome D. Kolleh, Liberia National Bar Association, Member; Mary Mulbah Nyumah, National Teachers Association of Liberia, Member; and Reginald K. Nagbe, Director General of the Authority, Secretary to the Board.
