IPNews-Monrovia,Liberia-30 September 2018: The International ICT in Africa has launched the fifth edition on ‘Forum On Internet Freedom in Africa’ ( FIFAfrica).
The forum this year was hosted in partnership with Media Foundation West Africa (MFWA), and took place from September 26-28 2018 in Accra Ghana.
The Forum On Internet Freedom In Africa is a landmark event that bring together various stakeholders from the Internet governance and online rights arenas in Africa and beyond to deliberate on gaps, concern, and opportunities for advancing policy,accessing information, free expression, non-discrimination and the free flow of information online on the continent.
A release from FIFA Africa stated that since its inception, the Forum has also served as a platform to make the International Day for Access to Information(IDUAI).
Engagement at the forum aim at reflecting on current trends and concerns in access and utilization of the internet and other technologies on the Africa continent.
Last year the forum launched a key report on calculating the Economic cost of internet disruption in Sub-Saharan Africa.
While 2014, 2015, 2016 FIFAfrica were hosted in Uganda. In 2017 the Forum was hosted in Johnnesburg, South Africa in partnership with the Association for Progressive Communications(APC), International network and non-profit organization.
