IPNews-Monrovia, Liberia-29 March 2018: Investigation conducted by this paper revealed that a Chinese contractor who is doing construction works at the Capitol Building construction site has assaulted another Liberian worker

The Chinese, identified as Zhan Guo Qilan, allegedly stood on the scaffold and used his leg to step the neck of a Liberian worker while construction was going on at the site.

According to the investigation, due to language barrier Qilan allegedly became impatient and he lose temper after several requests to his aid (Liberian) to have the working tools extended to him.

Many Chinese constrictors poorly speak English, a situation that continues to causes serous communication barriers at construction sites.

Though there are several allegations of physical assaults meted against Liberian workers, it can be recalled that in December 2017, another Chinese contractor physically assaulted a Liberia in Caldwell.

Following the incident, the case was reported to the Central Police Station where it was discovered that the case was taken from the police by the Deputy Minister for Technical Services at the Ministry of Public Works, Claude E. Langley who promised to investigate the matter.

This paper has also been hinted of another Chinese contractor who used a hot knife from the fire to burn another Liberian worker, causing his left hand to peeled off.

Meanwhile, sources at the site of the Capitol Building hinted this paper that there have been several cases of bad labor practices and maltreatment against Liberians working alongside their Chinese counterparts. Sources say these cases are always swept under the carpet.

Minister Langley has however vowed to depot the Chinese constrictor should he be found liable after the investigation.
