OVER SUSPECTED DEATH OF YOUNG GAY MAN: WOMAN CONFIRMS LATE BROTHER BEING A GAY

IPNEWS: The dead body of a young man believed to be gay, has been discovered dumped along the Todee-Kakata highway, while his alleged killers and suspected partner’s whereabouts remain unknown.
However, a woman identified as Eunice Gray, believed to be the sister of the deceased has identified the dead body as her brother Emmanuel Gray.

Eunice told onlookers’ in tears that prior to this gruesome murder, her brother was attacked and violently beaten by scores of an angry mob on Valentine’s day in 2015, claiming that he is gay.
She narrated that few weeks after the incident, her deceased brother confided in her that indeed he was going out with a man identified a Varney Teah, whose whereabouts are also unknown since late Emmanuel Gray was discovered dead, on July 8, 2016.

“I knew that my brother was gay, but I never disclosed it to anyone outside of my immediate family”, Madam Gray told IPNEWS Contributor Samuel James.

Eunice Gray confirming her brother’s death stated that ‘her worst fear since her brother (Emmanuel Gray) dead body was found on the roadside in Margibi county on July 8, 2016, is the whereabouts of his friend he used to date called Varney Teah.

Meanwhile, Police officers at a local police station in Kakata, have confirmed the suspicious death of late Emmanuel, while the killer (s) are still unknown, with no arrest made up to Press time.
Our reporter Samuel James, told IPNEWS that onlookers at the Police station were heard saying: ‘They know we will not encourage gay business here in Liberia; there will be no room for gays in Liberia; God bless them, they should have caught the two of them together.

The topic of homosexuality remains an immoral subject (taboo) for discussion in Liberia and nor is the practice tolerated. On many occasions, law enforcement officers standbys and watched attacks on gay people.

There is no guarantee that those who have killed Gray will be brought to justice. The family will have to live with the painful experience forever.
International Human Rights groups continued to highlight the need for the protection of transgender persons and peoples with same-sex relationships.
