Breaking News: Man Dies At Salem Police Deport

— As Police Launches Investigation

IPNEWS: Police investigation is underway following the discovery of a lifeless body of an inmate at the Salem Polie Depot adjacent the famous Shark’s Business Center, Airfield Sinkor.

According to an investigation by the authoritative Independent Probe, the lifeless body of Prince Wouyou, a resident of 18 Street Sinkor believed to be in his middle twenties was found hanging in the cell along with five other inmates.

Police preliminary investigation of the five other inmates told police investigators that they were at sleep to get up to the lifeless body of their fellow inmate Prince Wouyou.

IPNEWS investigation gathered that the deceased was taken to the Salem Police Depot by an unnamed Lawyer who alleged that the deceased who is said to be a mechanic had been on the run with his Two Hundred United States dollars (200.00) to repair his damaged vehicle until he was spotted at a entertainment place on 11th Street Sinkor which led to his arrest.

When contacted, Police spokesman Moses Carter confirmed the incident and stated that the LNP is still conducting investigation and an official press statement will be release shortly.

Last April 2023, family members of another deceased inmate Mohammed Diallo, who died in the police cells Sunday 30 April 2023 at the Airfield Police Station, also known as Salem Depot in Sinkor, demanded explanation from authorities of the Liberia National Police on the cause of death.

Investigation revealed that the deceased had been in prison over three years for owing one of his colleagues LD430 (US $6). Mohammed was alleged to have died when the Commander of the Salem Depot, Harry Bai, pepper sprayed the cell, causing three inmates to faint and leading to the death of Diallo. Relatives of the deceased said he was not sick when he was detained and described him as a very calm boy in the community.
