—– As GSA Investigates former Police IG Vehicle Ownership Claims
IPNEWS: Former Chief of Protocol Nora Finda Bundoo has filed a lawsuit against the Assets Recovery Team.
On Wednesday March 27, the Assets Recovery Team carried out a massive seizure of vehicles believed to be owned by the former Chief of protocol of the Weah led government.
The team impounded more than twenty (20) transport taxis with the inscription “Gracious Ride reportedly owned by Madam Nora Finda Bundo also Involving the vehicle of former police Inspector General Patrick Sudue.
The Assets Recovery Team headed by Cllr. Edwin Kla Martin was established following the issuance of Executive order#126 by president Boakai.
The Team is charged with the responsibilities to identify and recover government assets wrongfully in the possession of current and past officials of government.
Therefore, the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) through its Party Chairman Janga Kowo has resist the idea of the Assets Recovery of the UP led government.
Meanwhile, the court has ordered the release of all vehicles that were seized by the Assets Recovery Team pending the outcome of the conference scheduled between the petitioner and respondent on April 1, 202
Meanwhile, Liberia’s Information Minister, Jerolinmek Matthew Piah, says the General Services Agency (GSA) is investigating former Police Chief, Patrick Sudue’s claim of ownership to a Special Utility Vehicle impounded yesterday in the ongoing assets recovery and properties retrieval exercise.
“The matter is now with the GSA. When the investigation is concluded and the determination made on the status of the vehicle, the action(s) thereof will be communicated to the public. But, if no wrongdoing is determined, the car will be returned to the former Police Director; and if it is also determined that the car is being possessed illegally, the appropriate action will be taken”, Minister Piah said.
The GSA is the state-owned assets management agency which is part of the joint state, private sector and civil society actors’ taskforce – purposely set up by the President of Liberia, H. E. Joseph N. Boakai – to recover all stolen state fixed and liquid assets in the possession of former Government employees and officials.
