— As Health Sector Gets Accelerated Budget Increment
IPNEWS: In January 2024, president Joseph N. Boakai, declared his government commitment to rescuing thousands of vulnerable youths from the killer ‘Kush’ , and other elicit drugs.
Mr. President in furtherance of his action, volunteer in leading the fight by leading his vice president Hon. Jeremiah Kpan Koung and other senior government officials for drugs test as the government’s political will in the fight against the killer ‘Kush’.
Now, the The fight against KUSH and Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), for At-Risk Youth Rehabilitation program, has gotten a major boost of US$12.23 million reflecting 1.8 percent increment in support to this projected compensation.
On the general outlook of the Health Sector, the new fiscal draft 2024 budget for the Health Sector has gotten an accelerated increased from US$64.56 million to US$75.5 million.
In President Boakai efforts to accelerate both preventive and curative health services for Liberia, has taken the health sector from US$64.5 million under his predecessor George Manneh Weah FY2023, to a substantial increase of US$10.9 million. The new budget for health under the FY2024 is now US$75.5 million showing a 15% increment.
The Ministry of Health under the fiscal 2024, now has US$57,871,358, with an increase of 18% then the budget of Joseph Boakai’s predecessor former president George Manneh Weah of US$47,654,419.
At the moment Liberia’s major referral hospital the John F. Kennedy (JFK) Medical Center is up from US$6.79 million to US$7.17 million, representing an increase of US$377,764 or 5.3%.
The College of Physicians and Surgeons is up from US$889,039 to US$1,338,941. This is an increase of US$449,902 or 34%, while the National Public Health Institute of Liberia is up from US$2,928,087 to US$3,150,106. This is an increase of US$222,019 or 7.1%.
In Nimba county, the Jackson F. Doe Hospital is up from US$2.16 million to US$2.37 million. This is an increase of US$210,258 or 9%.
In it’s entirety, both Curative and preventive Health have taken a major increment.
Curative Health, is up from US$34.3 million to US$43.6 million. This is an increase of US$9.3 million or 21.4%, while Preventive Health is up from US$395,000 to US$1,653,000. This increase accounts for US$1,258,000 or 23.9%.
In the densely populated New Kru Town, the Redemption Hospital is up from US$64,163 to US$300,000. This increase accounts for US$235,837 or 79%, as the National Drug Service is up from US$10,000 to US$100,000. This is a US$90,000 increase or 90%.
Other major health facilities and Hospitals have also seen budgetary increment, including the Government Hospital in Buchanan – From US$98,000 for FY2023 to US$142,253 for FY2024, while F. J. Grant Hospital in Sinoe – From US$10,000 to US$110,000.
The J. J. Dossen Hospital in Maryland – From US$10,000 to US$150,000, Timothy Hospital in Cape Mount – From 33,333 to US$100,000., G. W. Harley Hospital in Nimba – From US$74,000 to US$110,000. and Martha Tubman Hospital in Grand Gedeh – From US$10,000 to US$100,000.
In Margibi county,vC. H. Rennie Hospital, now moves from US$25,000 to US$45,000, while the entire Margibi County Health Team – From 45,000 to US$100,000
The Government Hospital in Bomi – From US$10,000 to US$100,000, Francis Hospital in RiverCee – From US$52,500 to US$75,000, Rally Time Hospital in Grand Kru – From US$10,000 to US$100,000.
