Diaspora Alert Sympathizes With Totota Inferno Victims’ Families

~ Calls for Heightening Road Safety Enforcement

IPnews: The Diaspora Alert (DA)- a movement that hinged its objectives on the advancement of society through advocacy and community engagement has expressed condolences to the bereaved families, loved ones and all those affected by the tragic passing of more than 40 people in an inferno as reported by Liberia’s Chief Medical officer, Dr. Francis Kateh.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, December 26, in Totota, Lower Bong County, after a fuel tanker crashed and soon after exploded, killing and injuring many who had reportedly attempted to scoop the content of the trapped tanker.

Diaspora Alert joins the Liberian leader H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah in calling on the public to reach out to the affected families as the Liberia National Red Cross and other requisite institutions of government aid with recovery and treatment efforts.

At the same time, DA has asked Liberians in the Diaspora to directly identify with victims’ families through prayers, counseling, or finance support as they mourn thier loved ones.

According to Eric Pervist, Chairman, Diaspora Alert, the DA believes in order to avert these tragic occurrences, the Liberia National Police (LNP) should heightens its road safety awareness messages and uncompromisingly enforce the vehicle and traffic law of Liberia. The DA stressed the need for LNP to swiftly quarantine an accident scene especially fuel tankers to reduce the risk of fatalities.
