Ephraim Nyumah Eleected Africa Law Students Int’l Secretary General

IPNEWS: A brilliant Liberian scholar, Ephraim T. Nyumah has been elected as the Secretary General of the Federation of African Law Students (FALAS) at its annual General Assembly held over the weekend in Kigali, Rwanda. 

FALAS annual General Assembly was held under the theme: Upholding the rule of law in Africa: A sine Qua Non to equality, social justice, and optimizing the implementation of the Africa CConventionalFree Trade Agreement (AFCFTA) the role of FALAS.

During the ALAS 2023 General Assembly, Liberia was represented by 18 Law students and two Assistant Professors who also served as Speakers.

At the annual Conference of the Federation of African Law Students (FALAS) Mr. Nyumah contested for the position of International Secretary General and overwhelmingly.

Mr. Nyumah is a second (2nd) Year Law Student, at the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law and also has his first degree in Economics and Demography from the University of Liberia and is a Member of the Journal Team, Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law, University of Liberia.

He is also the former Secretary General, of FALAS Liberia Chapter, and served as Presidential Press Secretary to the outgoing President of FALAS, H. E. Siaffa B. Kemokai, II.

Nyumah also served as Secretary General, of the Bureau of Research, Information and Guidance, of the Student Unification Party, and later served as Secretary General, of SUP, where he published several critical articles during these times.

In a congratulatory communication message signed by Malak Majok Adut of South Sudan and Chairman of the Elections Commission FALAS 2023 General Assembly said that the Elections Commission is certified by the procedures and the elections outcome as free and transparent elections.

“On behalf of the Elections Commission and my behalf, I would like to congratulate the newly elected leaders of FALSA. I also want to thank the outgoing leadership under the stewardship of H.E Siaffa Bahn Kemokai the former president of fDallasinternational for trusting me and my colleagues in the person of Tijan and Rolland to conduct the 4th falas Convention in RWANDA, Kigali  We are indebted for choosing us to do the job.

According to him, they also acknowledged the equal participation of all the delegates for supporting FALAS at all it corridor, adding that they wish the best to the newly elected leadership.

Those elected include, Kioi Ngungu, president, Kenya, Nokuthual songo Vice president, South Africa, Ephraim T. Nyumah, Secretary General, Liberia and Success Zibba , was elected Deputy Secretary General.

Also, Hawa D. Director of Accounting – Ghana, Seyram Seyram, Head of Diplomacy and protocol,

Ghana , Asiimwe maria patience, welfare secretary, Elaigwu Eunice, Director of Treasury, Nigeria were all elected.

The Federation of African Law Students (FALAS) is the apex and unifying umbrella body for undergraduate law students across the African continent.

The Federation enjoys goodwill and bank on endorsements from the African Bar Association (AfBA), and other regional/national law bodies across the continent which we mutually collaborate with to foster our founding credo.

FALAS is an international, non-partisan and forward-looking association that is wired towards building a united Africa and a common future and also seeks to promote and protect the interest of justice, fairness, equity and equality in Africa while ensuring at all times regardless of the prevailing circumstances that they are united on all frontiers.

As a unified student body, it primary objective is to provide opportunities for African law students, bridge the existing gap, proffer viable solutions to their problems, build a network of outstanding students who would collaborate towards a common future and ensure that African Law Students are attuned to new realities and global practices.

Also, FALAS is also committed to building an emerging generation of young lawyers who are engaged in changing the narratives and adding value.

The Mission of FALAS, is to build a united network of African law students who are equipped with the requisite exposure and knowledge and are committed to the development of the continent through connecting ideas, persons and resources

Additionally, while the vision is to create a platform where African law students are given an opportunity to interact and work towards building a formidable continental legal community.
