An organization under the banner women vocational education has embarked on the training of one hundred women and girls in Gbarnga, Bong County.

The process is aimed at empowering young girls in Bong to enable them take on initiatives in order to contribute to society. It also aims at improving the livelihood of girls in Bong County and beyond.

Since the establishment of the Women Vocational Initiative (WVI), it has been in operation in Montserrado and providing skills training for many Liberians, of which some of the trainees have become self supportive in society.

According to the executive director of the Women Vocational Initiative Miss Munah K.N. Gboe, the first face of the vocational training in Gbarnga aims to empower young girls to be independent in the society and make possible decision for life time.

Miss Gboe said due to the COVID-19, each course of the training will enroll twenty persons taking into consideration health measures put in place by the ministry of health and partners.

The vocational skills training which is expected to last for the period of three (3) months will offer makeup, hair dressing, interior decorations, soap making including other areas of disciplines.

The emerging female leader however encouraged young females to take advantage of the Vocational program and better their skills and thwart the idea of overly depending on males for everything.

Miss Munah K.N. Gboe believes that women have been left out in society as such it is about time for girls to start doing something that will help to better up their lives.

“Our main aim is to ensure that girls become active in business that will enable them to be managers, to be productive, respectful, among other issues of importance. Too many of our young sisters are heavily relying on men to have almost everything. It is bad for our sisters to be in this hobbit” she warned.

Munah Gboe at the same time said during the training processes, girls will also be taught about teenage pregnancy, and motivation to begin a mini business.

The training which is expected to kick off on September 4 targets one hundred (100) young girls in Bong County.
