Gov’t Expresses Sympathy to Disaster Victim in overnight rainfall

IPNews-Monrovia: The Government of Liberia sympathizes with the family of those who lost their lives following torrential rainfall during the early hours of Friday, June 26, 2020.

The intensity of the downpour led to flooding in many communities across Monrovia. Five people in the Sinkor area are reported to have died when a nearby wall crumbled. The government sincerely regrets the loss of lives and shares the grief of the bereaved.

Meanwhile the Ministry of Information noted that the Disaster Management Agency and other relevant institutions of government are assessing the nature of the damage in order to make the appropriate and impactful interventions.

President George M.Weah is scheduled to visit the bereaved families, the injured and the flood victims, even though a specific date and time  is not mentioned.

Global environmentalist have warned of heaviest rain within the West Africa particularly countries along the Guinea Forest.

Similar downpour rocked the Ivory Cost Capital Abidjan leaving thousands homeless.
