Liberia Gets 300,000 Euro Worth Of Assorted Medical Supplies

IPNews-Monrovia: Assorted medical supplies and relief items valued about 300,000 Euro has arrived in the country.

The assorted medical supplies and relief items, which was secured through the efforts of the Liberian Embassy in Italy, arrived in Liberia since November 2019 but authorities were able to clear the container from the Freeport of Monrovia last week due to some logistical problems.

According to Liberia’s Ambassador accredited to the Republic of Italy, His Excellency Ambassador Andrew W. Kronyanh, the assorted medical supplies and relief items were donated to the government of the Republic of Liberia through its Embassy near Rome by an Italian humanitarian organization, ASSOCIAZIONE UNIVERSO HUMANITAS (World Humanitas Association) based in the southern Italian city of Salerno.

According to the Liberian envoy, the assorted medical supplies and relief items would help in buttressing the government’s ongoing efforts in responding to the needs of its citizens.

Ambassador Kronyanh informed that while in Italy, he will continue to galvanize efforts aimed at lobbying support from well meaning organisations and philanthropists to supplement the government’s Pro-poor agenda, which is aimed at lifting the population out of poverty.

The Liberian diplomat said some of the items such as fourteen pieces of dialysis devices, one incubator, and thirty oxygen tanks would go a long way in boosting government’s current fight against COVID-19.

He also indicated that 30 big bills of clothing and other items would be helpful for use by the underprivileged children, most of whom are currently in orphanages around Monrovia and its environs.

Ambassador Kronyanh used the occasion to thank the Association of World Humanitas Association of Italy for the donation of the assorted medical supplies and relief items to the people of Liberia and promised that they would be used for the intended purpose.

At the same time, Ambassador Kronyanh expressed appreciation to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency, Gbehzohngar Milton Findley and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the support in getting the materials out from the Freeport of Monrovia.

He also thanked authorities of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and the Freeport of Monrovia for the collaboration.

For his part, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of World Humanitas Association of Italy, Dr Roberto Schiavone, noted that his organization feels delighted to impact humanity and thanked Ambassador Kronyanh for the opportunity to collaborate in getting the supplies to Liberia.

He promised to remain committed to ensuring that Liberia gets the necessary assistance.
