$6, 500 X-mas bonanza for lawmakers to print new LRD banknotes

IPNEWS-MONROVIA: The independent Probe newspaper has independently established that several members of the House of Representatives who
signed the resolution authorizing President George Weah to print and infuse 4 billion new Liberian dollars into the economy, received US$6,500 as signature fees before the Christmas festive season.

The source hinted IPNews that some critical lawmakers who did not sign the resolution, did not benefit such X-mas package which has sent discontent at the lower house.

It can be recalled, that at a late press conference held in the office of speaker Chamber at 9:30pm on Wednesday, December 17, the speaker told legislative
reporters that members of the lower House had signed a resolution to authorise the
president through the Central Bank of Liberia to print and infuse the money into the economy, something that some members describe as untrue.

IPNews has further gathered that Representatives Rustonlyn Dennis, Yekeh Kolubah, Edward Flomo, Larry Nyounquio, Thomas Goshua, Nagba Sloh and Abraham
Varmuyan Conneh are among lawmakers who declined to sign the resolution.

Furthermore, our source stated that the decision by House Speaker Chamber to exclude the seven lawmakers form the Christmas bonanza has now bought uneasiness at the House of Representatives with the seven pledging to lead a campaign for the removal of Speaker Chamber upon their return to the Capitol building in two weeks time.
