LNP Launches Full Scale Investigation Into Accident Involving Grand Bassa County Superintendent

IPNews-Monrovia: The Liberia National Police has launched a full scale investigation into a fatal road traffic accident which occurred at Owen Grove, Buchanan Highway on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 8:45 P.M.

According to a LNP release, the accident involved the Superintendent of Grand Bassa County, Hon. Janjay Baikpeh, operator of a Blue Hyundai SUV without licensed plate and an operator of a Moron Bajah Boxer motorcycle, Lee Henry, 19 years old.

From our preliminary investigative findings, Hon. Baikpeh was heading towards Buchanan, Grand Bass a County while the motorcyclist was riding in the opposite direction when they collided.

Due to the collision, the Superintendent and the occupants of the motorcycle sustained serious bodily injuries resulting to the instant deaths of two occupants on the motorcycle, Akakin Wreegbo, 19 years old and Moses Smith, 34 years old.

Cyclist Lee Henry who was immediately rushed to the ELWA after the incident has been pronounced dead by doctors, bringing the number of total deaths to three persons while Hon. Baikpeh and George Yamaha, another rider on the bike are currently undergoing treatment at the Du-side in Margibi County and the John F. Kennedy Hospital in Monrovia.

The public will be duly updated on developments surrounding this tragic incident.

The LNP administration extends its deepest sympathy to families of the deceased victims and those hospitalized.
