Senator Sando Johnson Reawakens Sable Mining Bribery Case

It may be recall a 2016 Global Witness report alleged that Senator Varney Sherman, including former House Speaker Alex J. Tyler, and others were nabbed into claims of taking bribe of over nine hundred fifty thousand United States dollars in a suspicious payment allegedly made by UK mining firm Sabel . The indictment sent sharp waves across Liberia and nearly brought Liberia’s most influential lawyer Cllr. Varney Sherman and others past government officials during the leadership of former president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf to their kneels. Also during the period, Cllr. Varney Sherman and others in responds to global witness allegation and subsequent findings by the government of Liberia contented that claims against them were politically motivated and a mere accusation intended to damaged their hard earned reputation. Now on the break when lots of Liberian thought the investigation has ended an everyday Liberian talk, Bomi County Senator Sando Johnson has sounded yet another soul touching warning, calling for a swift investigation into the matter. Sen. Sando stated that individuals involved in the alleged bribery scandal will not be swept under the carpet because the money are tax payers’ money which cannot be taken by those he calls criminal minded bureaucrats. Meanwhile Senator Johnson has also called on the government of Liberia to ensure those persons of interest in the Sabel Mining bribery case do not leave the country.
