IPNews-Monrovia-Liberia-Friday 30 November 2018: Former Vice President Joseph N. Boakai , is cautioning President George Manneh Weah, to ‘stop friendship in the governance of the state if he should succeed’.
Former Vice President Boakai stated that the greatest threat to failure in the governance of the state is to continuously allow friendship in key decision making of the country coming out of the a tremendous period of civil unrest.
Speaking this morning on the OK FM live radio morning program “OK Breakfast Show”, from his Rehab residence, former Vice President Boakai, said as an experienced statesman over the years he has realized that ‘allowing friendship in governance of the state undermines the intend and purpose of leading the country as President’.
“Let me say this to Bro. Weah: government is not a place for friendship if you must succeed,”
“The kind of persons you appoint in government must come in with the desire to support your agenda that you brought to the table during the campaign periods rather than seeking self above the interest of the greater majority.” Former Vice President Boakai said.
Former Vice President Boakai also said it was unfortunate to begin to see signs of deviation from campaign promises made to the citizenry by the Coalition for Democratic Change-CDC which led to the overwhelming victory of the party during the 2017 elections.
“ I have said this countless time without number that I stand ready to provide and give my meaningful experienced advise to our President George Manneh Weah when I am called upon but for some to think we are still in a campaign period to leave other statesmen out of the decision marking of the country is unfortunate,”
“ I will accept an invitation from President Weah to provide the much needed advise on key national issues, because Liberia is all we have and we must learn to keep it that way.” Boakai told listeners on the OK Breakfast show.
Touching on the alleged missing sixteen billion Liberian dollars, Vice President Boakai disclosed that as vice president and president of the Liberian Senate, indeed five billion was ordered printed following the passage and approval by the Liberian senate contrary to claim that the Legislature approved the printing of fifteen billion Liberian dollars.
“I advised former Central Bank Governor Milton Weeks during the passage and approval by the Senate to print of five Liberian billion dollars, because I knew him as far back at the College of West Africa to ensure there was maximum awareness on the used and handing of the Liberian currency to avoid continued mutilation but perhaps he didn’t listen to me,”
“Look, our problem here is some of us think Liberia is a western country. We need to begin to realized who we are and the precarious challenges we got to face as a people and nation rather than bringing ideals to Liberia that are very inconceivable.” VP Boakia stated.
Furthermore speaking, former Vice President Boakia, call on Liberians living in the diasporas to begin to return home and contribute to the rebuilding process of the country rather than remaining and playing a wait and see attitude .
The former Liberian Vice President was speaking this morning in conversation with broadcast Journalist Smith Toby, when the OK FM paid him a courtesy visit on the celebration of his seventy-fourth, natal day.
