IPNews-Monrovia-Liberia-Wednesday 30 November 2018: The Capital improvement Project (CIP) piped portable water restoration which is being implemented by the Liberia Water, Municipal Project with support from the United States Government on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 was dedicated to the Citizens Sanniquellie City, Nimba County. The project, which is said to have lasted for about 8 years under construction was indeed finalized in the middle of this year and officially turn over to the local authorities in that part of the country.

 The Water project is being implemented in three capital cities, namely Robertsport, Voinjama and Sanniquellie whereas residents of those places are currently benefiting from a clean and safe drinking water.

Speaking during the dedicatory ceremony of the water treatment plan in Sanniquellie, the regional head of the local steering committee Madam Deddeh Kollie extended profound thanks and appreciation to USAID and the former president of Liberia under whose regime the agreement was signed to cover the three counties..

Madam Deddeh Kollie pledged the support and commitment of the locals as she recounted the trench of the project in the human resource development and empowerment of community dwellers in the project implementation areas.

She urged the entire citizenry, to put into place sustainable mechanism that facilitates the wholesome management and maintenance of the project.

For his part, the Managing Director of the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation Dunnah Kamara cautioned citizens of the three cities to take ownership and responsibilities in the utilization of the resources relevant to the transformation of the society.

Mr. Kamara put the cost of the project at about 29 million United States dollars that is expected to supply 13 thousand gallons of water daily. The LWSC managing Director also cautioned residents of Sanniquellie, Robertsport and Voinjama to work with their local authorities for the upkeep of the water and its facilities.

He further encouraged the people of Sanniquellie to get connected to be able to drink clean and safe drinking water.

Meanwhile,speaking at the dedication ceremony ,   Internal Affairs Minister Vanney Sirleaf  cautioned citizens to disengage from what he called water theft noting that donor sponsor project needs to be well managed. Minister Sirleaf asked citizens of the three cities to make proper use of the pipe born water and pay their bills.

The internal affairs minister challenged the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation management to be swift in connecting citizens who will take advantage of the water and pay their bills.Minister Sirleaf lamented that the delay in connecting its customers can also lead to water theft something he frowned at seriously.
