IPNews-Monrovia-Liberia-16 November 2018: Public Works Minister Ubotu Nyenpan has expressed satisfaction over works done by Liberian construction companies recently contracted to pave feeder roads in Montserrado County and its environs.
Minister Nyenpan stated that the decision to hire Liberian contractors is in line with the presidential inaugural address earlier this year at the Samuel Kanye Doe sport complex in Paynesville, to cut the trend of Liberians being spectators in their own economy.
The former Sinoe county Senator warned the Liberian contractors about the government decision to begin contracting Liberian companies is to empower local contractors.
He named the West wood Inc and Quality construction group as two outstanding Liberian contractors currently constructing some of the feeder roads in Montserrado County.
Minister Nyenpan also stated during an interview with IPNews on Wednesday, November 15, that he is excited that Liberian contractors can do quality works as compare to their counterparts.
Some of the feeder roads highlighted by the minister includes: Doe community, Logan Town broad street St. Michael, Tusa field and Patience shop among others.
In a related development, the Liberia National Police with immediate effect has banned all container trucks from riding in the streets of Monrovia until January 15, 2019.
According to the director of public safety at the LNP Col. John Saah disclosed that the decision is due to the number of pedestrians on the streets leading to the Christmas and new year holidays.
