Court Drags 27 Year Old Man To Court; As Police Bust Criminal Hideouts In Monrovia

IPNews-Monrovia,Liberia-29 August 2018: The Monrovia City Court has send a twenty seven years old Prince Payleh to the Monrovia Central Prison on the charge of murder.

The police charge sheet said that suspect Prince Payleh alias “Yeedor” was arrested and sent to jail for allegedly killing the late Obell Bill Bango, residents of Sugar Hill, Portrays Community, Paynesville Red Light.

According to police investigation, suspect Prince Payleh committed the act, and had been on the run but has been arrested.

During police preliminary investigation,  defendant Prince stated that hooligans (gronna men) in Red Light including the deceased and his followers, hated him (Prince Payleh) threatened to kill him whenever he came across them.

The defendant further stated that, upon being approached by police as police aid in a bid to clear Red Light of criminal due to his command of street followers unknown as ‘ gronna men’, so than apprehended two of the ‘gronna men one of which was the late Obell Bango.

He said the two men were always posting threats to his life and took them to police commander at the Turtoise Base Station and instructed them to go to court but the Commander of Red Light (zone 5/D/1) told the Turtorse Base Commander to release the two men stressing that he never receive any complaint from the hooligans.

Even though, the police investigation findings stated far from the background explained by the defendant, police later gathered and established that they were all so called ‘gronna men’, including the victim.

The defendant Prince Payleh stabbed Obell Bill Bango (victim) in his shoulder blade with the knife while the victim’s back was turned.

In view of the forgoing circumstances, couple with the voluntarily admission of defendant Prince Yeedor Payleh to crime and witness’ accounts, this police investigation established to charge the defendant with the commission of the crime of murder.

Suspect Payleh was arrested and acquainted with his constitutional rights, investigated and subsequently charged with the crime of murder, for knowingly, purposely and intentionally stabbing to death of the late Obell Bill Bango is in violation of chapter 14, sub chapter A and section 14.1 of the revised penal code of the Republic of Liberia.

Meanwhile, The Liberia National Police has discovered several criminal hideouts in and around Monrovia.

The police in their raiding operations said, the exercise was intended to expose the hardcore criminals who commits crimes and escape.

According to the police spokesman, Moses Carter, criminals who are bent on harming peaceful citizen will not go with impunity but must be prosecuted.

He spoke to this paper (independent probe) on Monday August 27 in the police conference Hall at the Temple of Justice, Capitol Hill in Monrovia.

Police in their operations succeeded by arresting eighty percent (80%) suspected criminals who are undergoing scrutiny by investigators.

The spokesman of police stated that, they have raided some communities which includes King Gray, Zubah Town, 704, Duport, Gobacchop, Soul Clinic, Vlagbah, Benson Street, Zimbabwe and Point Four among Others.
