IPNews-Monrovia,Liberia-16 August 2018:The Environmental Protection Agency on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 ended a two days consultative meeting with members of the package water producers of Liberia.
Cllr. Edwin Yurbor, legal counsel to the Environmental Protection Agency-EPA, on behalf of the Agency lauded members of the Association and promised the EPA fullest corporation to continuing the good working relationship between the two institutions.
Yurbor stated that the EPA will ensure a vigorous attainment of high standards and keep a balance in the accreditation, registration and certification of only members of the ‘Package Water Producers Association of Liberia’.
Cllr. Yourbor: “The EPA will put all measure in place to see that only registered and recognized members this body (Package Water Producers Association of Liberia) will be allowed to purchase plastics from any plastic producing company to do their packaged water business.”
He disclosed that all unregistered dealers of package Water will be fined one thousand five hundred United States dollars ( $1,500.00 ) USD as fined for first offense, while two thousand United States dollars ( 2,000.00 ) USD as fined for second offense.
The EPA legal expert said while such entity remained close, the EPA shall ensure the reopening of such business will be contingent upon payment of such fees leveled in keeping with Environmental laws of the EPA.
Also making remarks, Lafayar Gumbo, who served as one of the brilliant panelists, highlighted the need for treatment quality of packaged water and the hygienic conditions of water producing factories to prevent waterborne diseases and other Health Hazards.
