By: Emmet R. Harris IPNews-Monrovia,Liberia-14 August 2018:The Environmental Protection Agency {EPA} and the package water producers in Montserrado County has commenced a two days water hygiene standardized  review meeting  at the crown hotel Paynesville city outside Monrovia. Speaking at the opening of the water hygiene standardized review meeting on Monday, August 13,2018, the Deputy Executive Director Environment Protection Agency=EPA  Randall Dobayou, alluded package water producers in Montserrado county for their continued efforts in accelerating the sector but cautioned on the importance to ensure water produced at various facilities are clean  and hygienic for human consumption. The review meeting which brings together approximately (500) packaged  water producing  companies in the country. Hon. Dobayou also stated that  the EPA and its partners ( packaged water producers) , will ensure closer collaboration in ensuring the standard of water produced by members of the ‘package water Producers Association’, meets the three required  qualities of color, taste and order. “ Let me caution you here together that the EPA will continued to collaborate and ensure package water producing companies operating in Liberia meets all the required standards for a healthy country.” “We will ensure as part of this collaboration to institute measure where applicable to ensure package water producing companies keep their facilities clean at all time in accordence with the EPA required standards.” EPA Dobayou stated. For his part,  Levi Z. Piah,  chief technical advisor, at  the EPA stated that the EPA  in partnership with the package water producers Association of Liberia, will begin a vigorous creating awareness on the regulation on safe drinking water across the country. Paih said the authorities at the EPA remain cautiously concern of growing reservation on the difference in scope of operations between the package water producers and distributors in the country. He called on members of the sector to continued adhering to all requirements setup by the Environmental Protection Agency- EPA to safeguard the greater populace for outbreak of infectious diseases through water consumption. The meeting concludes today at the same venue.

By: Falcon N Dayrell IPNews-Monrovia,Liberia 4 August 2018: Teachers from Central North Liberia,  mainly from Bong County, has stormed the Ministry of Education in demand of increment in their salaries and inclusion on the government of Liberia payroll. The Teachers who were placed under the government supplementary teacher scam during their protest yesterday.  Monday,  August 13, 2018, told the Independent Probe that they were not leaving the main entrance of the Ministry on 3rd street until  for authorities of the Ministry of Education look into the concerns. Augustine Nah, spokesperson for the aggrieved supplementary teachers said it was unbearable to continued on a wait and see when authorities of the Ministry continued to make them live under difficult conditions due to the refusal of government to include them on payroll or increase their stipends . “We are tired! We are not leaving here today until the Minister of Education tells us something. We want them regularize our status with the government. “ “Some of us here had worked with the Ministry of Education for the last six to seven years not on payroll but only receiving twenty-five United States dollars (USD$25.00), monthly. “ Nah told IPNews. Nah speaking further said as part of their demands, some of the teachers were also seeking permanent employment due to protracted  service as volunteer without paid or inclusion of the government regular payroll. “Our present stipends cannot help us and our family, especially as schools about to open. So we want regular salary and not USD 25.00.” Nah Concluded. When contacted, Ministry of Education through its Director of Communications, Maxim Beteh  told  IPNews that the Ministry was equally concern about the welfare of the protesting teachers including all teachers across the country. He stated that the Ministry of Education and Finance are working collectively to ensure teachers and supplementary teachers are given honorable salary and other incentives. Beteh narrated that the Ministry of Education under the stewardship of Professor Ansu Sonii , is committed to a complete transformation of the education and is equally concern to settling the all salary issues of teachers and sup[port staff under the government of Liberia Ministry of Education payroll. Maxim Beteh , said as part of the Minister Sonii  desire to upgrading the standards of teachers , most especially salary payment is collaborating with various CSM companies in the country to ensure teachers in rural parts do not undergo hardship in getting their monthly salaries. “We want to plead with our teachers, you have done well and all we want is that you exercise small patience and all your concerns will be settle.” Beteh said.
