Mayor Koijee Seeks WB Technical Assistance at Japan Confab

IPNews-Monrovia,Liberia-25 April 2018:The City Mayor of Monrovia Jefferson T. Koijee is seeking World Bank’s Technical assistasnce to revcamp the City Corporation.

According to a dispatch from Tokyo, Japan, where the Mayor is currently participating in the World Bank’s Technical Deep Dive conference, Mayor Koijee stated that meaningful support and sustain relationship with potential partners, such as the World Bank will yield to greater assistance in the areas of  technical expertise from other cities across the world in modernizing the urban management and waste management system of the city of Monrovia in accordance with the desire of the President to ensure clean and green Monrovia.

The conference is been organized by the Tokyo Development Learning Center (TDLC).

TDLC supports and facilitates strategic WBG and client countries in collaboration with selected Japanese cities, agencies and partners for joint research, knowledge exchange, capacity building and other activities that develop opportunities to link Japanese and global expertise with specific project-level engagements in developing countries to maximize development impact.

In the areas of technical capacities, the conference will develop a frim collaboration with the World Bank’s community in the of practice on Safe and Resilient Cities and the Rockefeller Foundation’s 100 Resilient Cities.

This year’s program is hosting delegations from 13 countries including Somalia, Liberia, Romania, Macedonia, Papua New Guinea, Myanmar, Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt.

Others are Argentina, Panama, Sierra Leone, Brazil and key experts from Nairobi, Medellin, Bangkok and Boston, World Bank Technical Leads and Task Team Leaders (TTLs) are in attendance for this TDD.
