Lion Club Pres. Patrick Sandikie Promises Increase Charity Support for the Blind & Underprivileged; As Club Inducts new corps of Officers

IPNews-Monrovia, Liberia-27 June 2018:Greater Monrovia Lions Club over the weekend inducted into office its new corps officers for the year 2018/2019.

In his acceptance speech, the newly inducted President of the Greater Monrovia Lions Club-GMLC, Patrick Sandikie, call on fellow to remain committed to the values of the Lions Cub by catering to the blind and underprivileged in society.

Lion Sandikie congratulated outgoing president of the club, Lion Roland L. Giddings and other officers for ensuring the goals of the Greater Monrovia Lions club continue on the path of greatly imparting the lives of the blind and underprivileged through the provision of essential gifts, education and shelter.

He pledged his continued commitment to ensuring the reactivation of other Lions club which are currently inactive.

โ€œMy fellow Lions, its esteem gratitude that you a have elected me today to serve as your new president for the next Lionlistic year. I promised that the confidence reposed in me and other members of the leadership will not be let down. We shall endeavor to seek for the reactivation of other clubs that are inactive and enhance various projects started by our predecessorโ€. Lion Patrick Sandikie promised.

He said being persuaded by the continue work of the Greater Monrovia Lions Club in Liberia, in caring for the blind and underprivileged through various service project, he shall ensure appropriate programs are crafted to raise funding to support various projects set forth by the new leadership.

Lion Patrick Sandikie call on fellow Lions to continue been daring and offer themselves to making the last efforts whenever call upon.

โ€œFellow Lions, my teamย  and I are under no illusion about the fact that, we need to re-inventย  And re-brand ourselves individually and collectively as a force, to sustain this good model of service to community and consistently take the Club a notch further. With this in mind, I have set for us the challenge to make difference with the renewed vigor, towards, service to Lionism and community. โ€œ

He said the Greater Monrovia Lions Club existence should be indivisible.

โ€œ The kind of robust love, bond, closeness-in-proximity and mutual respect that existed among our funding members must be vigorously adopted and sustained.โ€ President Sandikie encouraged members of the GMLC.

President Sandikie reemphasized need to continuously show kindness to others especially the blind and underprivileged in society will continue to propel the happiness of all Lions most important for members of the Greater Monrovia Lions Club.

Patrick Sandikie: โ€œ We need to continue making someoneโ€™s future happen. By doing this, we shall develop a heart of gratitude to God our creator. If you only think of yourself, you cannot be happy. But if you want to be happy for the rest of your lifetimeย  than, help someone by your generous giving. Among the things you can give and still keep are your kind words and encouragement, a smile, and grateful heart. No act of kindness, no matter how small , is ever wasted. The little things matter the most.โ€

Speaking earlier, was outgoing president, now immediate Past President, Lion Roland L. Giddings, who lauded the generous contribution of fellow Lions during this leadership , especially their time in caring for the Blind and Underprivileged in society.

He hailed the members of the Greater Monrovia Lions Club for their continued committed to ensuring the Club grow day-by-day in caring for others, meanly the Blind and the underprivileged .

โ€œLet congratulate all of you wonderful Lions for the support provided over the year. I can say today, that your contribution to the support of various projects undertaking during the Lionlistic year was rewarding.โ€

Lion Giddings named projects undertaken with some support for Lions Club International, as theย  construction and equipping of the Modern Eye Center at the J.F.K. Medical Center;ย  the embellishment of a high tech computer lab for Blind students at the A.M.E. University on Camp Johnson road , the construction of a eight class room elementary school for kids in the Kpanyah Town, Fendall, and several life saving donations of food and no food items , including cloths , medical supplies, Ambulance, disaster relief assistance etc. to the Ministry of Health , the Group of 77, relief items for Lions and the people of Freetown, Sierra Leoneย  and other orphanages in and around Monrovia.

For his part, the installing officer, Christopher McBorrough, Investment Specialist, at the National Social Security and Welfare Corporation-NASSCORP, challenged the newly inducted corp of officers of the Greater Monrovia Lions Club-GMLC, to continued living and conforming to principals of the foundering fathers of Lions Club through service to humanity.

McBorrough, stated that โ€˜selfless living and support to humanityโ€™, was essentialย  to the growth and intend of the club as exemplified by the motto of the club โ€˜We Serveโ€™.

โ€œ Let me challenged you all here today as you are inducted as leaders and team member of this Greater Monrovia Lions Clubโ€™, to continue to live up to the expectation of fellow Lions by ensuring you build upon your predecessors work and projects.โ€ McBorrough cautioned.

The installation ceremony was graced by senior government officials , including Associate Justice of the Honorable Supreme court of Liberia, his honor, Kabineh M. Jaโ€™neh, long time Liberian opposition politician and humanitarian Professor Dr.ย  Togba N. Tepoteh , veteran Liberian Newspaper publisher, Philp N. Wesseh , amo0ng others.

Those inducted were: Lion Patrick N. Sandikie, President , Lion Bernice Savanno, 1st Vice President, Lion Awah Cole, 2nd Vice President, Lion Samuel T. Zonoe, 3rd Vice President and Lion Margret Youboty, Secretary. Others are : Lion Ralph Sonkarley, Treasurer, Lion Romel Giddings, Tamer, Lion Victoria G. Duncan, Tail Twister and Lion Mildred Dean, Past President and Membership Chairperson.

Additional person inducted were: Lion Carlos B.Z. Smit, Director, Lion John Youboty, Director , Lion Benedict F. Sannoh, Director and Lion Jamie Svedberg, Director.
