June Term Of Court Opens; Judge Gbeisay Cautions Colleagues

IPNews-Monrovia,Liberia-20 June 2018: The Judge of the Civil Law Court Yamie Q. Gbeisay has given strong advice to colleagues to leave no stone on turned during this June Term of Court by ensuring cases are speedily and timely dispose of.

His honor Gbeisay reemphasized that Lawyers cooperate due to the difficulties encountered in getting  assignment at the Civil Law Court.

“The more cases you have the less sleep you will get.” Judge Gbeisay indicated.

“Passing on these assignments lawyers have to make rulings, so please cooperate with us in disposing of these cases in in a timely manner.” Judge Gbeisay begged.

Speaking further, he said that more lawyers were running after court officials for assignments on a particular case and wanted the case be heard which is completely against the practice of law.

Judge Gbeisay: “Interestingly, If this lawyer comes begging for his case to be held and afforded that opportunity, and haven’t realized that the case called for is not in their favor, that same lawyer requesting the adjudication of the case no begin to create unnecessary delays for continuants which undermines the timely disposal of a case which will not be allow during the June term of court.”

The no nonsense Civil Law Judge narrated further that by giving more excuses and unnecessary delays sometimes revert to the disadvantage of the opposing party which will not be entertain.

Quoting rule 11 which governs the noble law profession, which state: “a lawyer should endeavor to obtain full knowledge of their client cost before advising there on and he is bond to give a kindle of opinion of the merit and kindle result of pending conciliated distribution of the other of controversies will not admit a fair judgments should be advise to avoid or any notification. It is unconstitutional for a lawyer to advise the institution or continuation of an unmilitary suit on quotes he quoted.”

He reminded lawyers that when they take advantage of the available rule 11,  more cases will not be on the docket of the court.

Judge Gbeisay said, their duty is to make peace with the society.
