FOXES On the Move; 87 Class Gives Back to School

IPNews-Monrovia, Liberia- 15 March 2018: Former students of the College of West Africa-FOXES, has donated several items for the benefit of their institution.

The CWA Class of 1987, on Monday, March 12, 2018, donated 150 arm-chairs, 700 pieces of souvenir flash-light ball pens, and Class T-shirts to the 2017/2018 graduating class.

The donation was made at a formal program marking the reunion of the Class of 1987.

Former Police Director Marc Amblard, Student Council President of CWA during 1987, on behalf of the Class presented the arm-chairs to the school on behalf of the class.

Other members of the Class included Atty. Victoria Gouma Duncan (the running mate to Sen. Prince Johnson and Deputy Minister for Administration at the Ministry of Youth and Sports), Madam Audrian Smith-Forbes (former Firestone Liberia administrator) and Mrs. Hawa-Ellen Knuckles (the daughter of the late Willis Knuckles).

Others include Mrs. Aumuo Abdallah Ebanks, Mrs. Ruth Hanson Thomas, Mr. C. Johnston Henries, Mr. Henry J. Cooper, Mr. Davidson Barlee, Rev. Joseph G. Neufville, Mr. Richard W. Clarke, Jr., Mr. Cedrick Windell Reeves, Mr. Siebo Williams, Mr. Duval Cassell, Mrs. Edith Williams Quiah, Mrs. Esther Korvah Ricks and Mr. A. Wendell Kialian.

 

 

Over the years’ eminent alumni, making their way back, their once cherished College of West Africa (CWA), following years of devastation.

Over the last 50 years, CWA alumni, specifically ‘Graduating Classes’, have contributed thousands of dollars in cash and equipment to their alma mater.

All of the alumni in separate remarks, talked about the quality of CWA and how they enjoyed the school and pleasure to give back to the institution that educated.

They also encouraged students of the institution to continue striving for excellence in the pursue for higher education as they gravitate into other fields of life sojourn.

A 1987 Physics instructor, His Honor Roosevelt Z. Willie, also thanked the students for their achievements and indicated that he always told them that “knowledge is power.”

For his part, the President of the College of West Africa, Rev. Paye Cooper Mondolo, said the school is grateful for the number of donation made by their alumni. He said the school will continue to prepare future leaders for tomorrow as a mark of solemn obligation to impacting the world positively as envisioned by its founding fathers.

Rev. Mondolo said currently the institution is undergoing serious financial constraints and has not received subsidies from oversea missions over three decades; stressing the need to increase teachers’ salaries.

Additionally, He told former students of the Class of 1987 that “all the books in the library are outdated and pleaded with them for additional assistance in boosting the laboratory.”
