IPNews-Monrovia,Liberia-8 March 2018: The president of the special presidential tasks-force said out of the 150 vehicles targeted, 64 of them have so far been retrieved.
Making the assertion Thursday during regular press briefing at the Ministry of Information, Benedict E.E. Reeves said of the 64, one is a vehicle from the presidential motorcade.
According to him, the tasks-force is experiencing high rate of non-compliance from high profile former officials of government including deputy ministers and others.
“Can you imagine that some high profile former government officials have extracted gear boxes from the vehicles, placing burden on the team,” Reeves added.
He used the occasion to warn owners of garages and private homes that are using their facilities to camouflage government`s vehicles are declared wanted.
“After Friday, the grace period, we will launch operation go-after them,” Reeves emphasized as he displayed fraudulent vehicle documents.
He displayed vehicle documents that he claimed is fraudulent because US$1,500.00 cannot buy a Prado Jeep. “85 percent of the procedures on the vehicles were not observed.”
However, Reeves has promised to publish a red list of former government officials who he claimed have deliberately remove gear boxes of wanted vehicles.
