Women Groups Back Cllr. John Lafayette Griggs To Replace Nagbe

IPNEWS: Cllr. John Lafayette Griggs, who hails from Grand Bassa County, seems to be the preferred choice of to fill the vacant seat on the Youh-Bench of the Supreme Court created by the purported resignation of the late Justice Joseph Nagbe.

As President Joseph Boakai prepares to nominate an impeccable lawyer to fill the gap of the former Associate Justice, Cllr. Griggs is among one of such persons who many feel could be the best choice for such prestigious position as many Liberians, including some of his colleagues in the legal profession are beginning to lobby for him.
Cllr. Griggs, a member of Liberian National Bar Association (LNBA), studied at the Liberia Assembly of God Bible College (LAGBC), the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law, the AME Zion University College, and went to College of West Africa (CWA), and also studied at the University of Liberia
Amongst his supporters are some women group who have begun advocating strongly by urging the Liberian presidency to consider the nomination of this young legal professional, whom they described as the ‘Right Person’ for such high-profile position.
The women group, in their prepared statement, said, “If nominated to the Supreme Court Bench as Associate Justice, he will professionally perform well, and further exhibit a high level of experience on that Bench under the President Boakai administration, so we have no doubt to justify the confidence reposed in him.”
The women group in their statement also pointed out that it will make history for a counsellor who has a well-grounded experience to ascend to such a high-profile position, noting that it will be a history for such a young Liberian to occupy such high-profile position after serving in the judiciary for decades in court administration and other judiciary assignments.
