LIBERIA: “I Can’t Be A Successful Commissioner General without Support from My Deputies, Partners, Others”

— Says Liberia Immigration Service New Commissioner General

The new Commissioner General of the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS), Colonel Stephen Zargo, has told officers and guests attending his taking-over ceremony of the Service, that he cannot be successful without support from his principle deputies, partners of the entity, and former Commissioner Generals of the LIS.

Col. Zargo told his audience that in the next 52 weeks, he envisions a spirited LIS, upbeat to efficiently and effectively provide a wholesome security consistent with the institution’s mandate and international best practices.

The LIS new CG spoke on wide range of issues confronting the forward march of the institution, but ended by calling all employees to place their hands on deck in addressing the challenges the entity faces.

For their part, Senator Prince  Moye, Senate  Chairperson on Way, Means and France and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Thomas Fallah, both lawmakers, promised to support the LIS Commissioner Generals in the discharge of their  official duties.

The LIS turning over ceremony went well and was well attended by actors in the security sector and both former and current government officials.

For her part, Colonel Catherine B Solomon, who was the Officer in Charge (OIC) of LIS, praised LIS officers for their support during the time she was in charge.

Col. Solomon also presented honors to the four former Commissioner Generals for their role played within the institution.

Police Inspector General, Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agencies (LDEA) Director General, Former Defense Minister among others also made statements of commendation for the LIS new team.
