Places Hold On Several Companies for Port Usage

IPNEWS: The National Port Authority (NPA) has released a strong mandate to stop 75 major customers from using the port, including: UCI, NAFAA, Total Liberia, Western Cluster, TRH, West Coast Trading, Star Cement, SRIMEX Enterprise amongst others.

According to the NPA memo 📝 to the corporate security coordinator- PFSO Timothy Sudue dated February 8,2024, from the office of the comptroller, those 75 customers are to be prevented from using the port facilities until they can settle their arrears to the port. Meanwhile, port users have described the action by the NPA management as a major economic sabotage to the government of Liberia.

The port users disclosed that if those 75 major customers decide to shutdown their operations the country will run into chaos and economic crises. ” We are talking about major importers here, rice, cement, petroleum, and other major goods. There should be a way out and not to stop the people from entering the port.

A new management should not start like this ” One veteran port users said. “What will happen if no gas or rice on the market? He asked.. Could this lead to major economic crises in the country? @highlight
