IPNEWS: President of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, suffered heat exhaustion during the inaugural ceremonies today.
His doctors have declared him perfectly fine. He has resumed his normal activities.
According to a statement from the President office, President Joseph Boakai, met with the Ghanaian President and other dignitaries later this evening.
Monday’s inauguration ceremonies of Liberia’s 25th New President Joseph N. Boakai, abruptly ended following a nearly collapse of President Boakai, while giving his inaugural speech.
Reports from Capitol Hill where the program is currently taking place, says the inauguration has momentarily come to a standstill after U.S. Secret Service noticed a repeated show of hiccups and break-in of the President’s speech, prompted them to move in to the aid to the President.
IPNEWS understand that Doctors at the program quickly responded, and he is now headed home according to our reporter on the grounds of the Executive Mansion.
Medical Experts tell IPNEWS that ‘Heat exhaustion is the body’s response to an excessive loss of water and salt, usually through excessive sweating. Heat exhaustion is most likely to affect: The elderly. People with high blood pressure. Those working in a hot environment’.
Sources tell IPNEWS that President Joseph Boakai might had suffered from heat exhaustion and dehydration.
The sudden collapse of President Joseph Boakai, resulted to the departure of several dignitaries, including Chinese Vice President and delegation, US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield, and several presidents who had gone to attend.
There are reports that President Joseph N. Boakai might not be joining an inaugural ball slated for this evening at the Centennial Memorial Pavilion in the heart of Monrovia.
Many Liberians spoken to on the grounds of the Capitol expressed disgust at the 24 pages length speech of the 79-year-old President.
However, sources tell IPNEWS that President Boakai is well is now taking rest at his home in rehab.
Several citizens criticized the organization of the Inaugural committee for holding such a historic national program under tents without outdoors air-conditioning.

Sources tell IPNEWS that at least ten persons were treated and rush to the J.F.K. from heat exhaustion, including an EPS Officer.
