Foreign Minister Kemayah Receives Egypt Ambassador-Designate to Liberia

Foreign Minister His Excellency Amb. Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Sr., on Thursday, January 11, 2024 received in audience the Egyptian Ambassador-Designate to the Republic of Liberia, when the incoming Ambassador paid Courtesy Call on him at his Foreign Ministry Office on the Capitol Hill, Monrovia.

The Courtesy Calls by the Ambassador-Designate come ahead of a meeting with His Excellency Dr. George Manneh Weah, President of the Republic of Liberia, aimed at presenting his Letter of Credence to the Liberian leader.

At a ceremony, Minister Kemayah received copies of the Letters of Credence from H.E. Mr. Ahmed Abd El Azeem Zeinhom Abd El Shakour Farghaly, Ambassador-Designate of the Arab Republic of Egypt and congratulated he for his preferment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Liberia.

Receiving copies of the credential from the Ambassador-Designate of Egypt, Minister Kemayah hailed the cordial bilateral relations between Liberia and Egypt and assured the Ambassador-Designate of Liberia’s determination to strengthen cooperation with the Egypt aimed at enhancing growth and development for Liberia.

The Dean of the Cabinet expressed optimism that the bilateral Cooperation between Liberia and Egypt will be further enhanced during the tenure of H.E. Mr. Ahmed Abd El Azeem Zeinhom Abd El Shakour Farghaly as Ambassador.

Minister Kemayah then assured the Egyptian’s Ambassador-Designate of his Ministry’s willingness to assist the Egyptian’s Envoy in making his tour of duty in Liberia fruitful and rewarding.

Foreign Minister Kemayah praised Egypt for the role the country played in strengthening the bilateral and historic ties subsisting between the Egypt and Liberia.

The Liberian Chief Diplomat conveyed a special greeting to H.E. Sameh Shoukry, Foreign Minister of Egypt and express his gratitude to the level of cooperation and coordination exhibited between various government of Liberia agencies, noting that both countries share common views with regard to a wide array of issues especially cooperation among African countries to tackle challenges of peace, security and development on the continent.

The Dean of the Cabinet said President George Manneh Weah sincerely extends gratitude and best wishes to the Egyptian Ambassador for his tour of duty in Liberia.

For his part, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Liberia, Ambassador Ahmed Abd El Azeem Zeinhom Abd El Shakour Farghaly disclosed that Egypt is keen on enhancing the diplomatic ties between the two countries, building on the current level of cooperation and transferring it to another level which will promote mutual understanding, cooperation and collaboration across various fields.

The Egyptian Envoy said Liberian cadres will participate annually in more than 50 training courses of capacity building organized by Egyptian Agency of partnership for development in the areas of military training, medicine, energy, operating dams, irrigation and finance.

Ambassador Ahmed Abd El Azeem Zeinhom Abd El Shakour Farghaly further disclosed that Egypt will annually provide fully covered seven scholarships for Liberian students graduates of high school to pursue their university studies in Egypt, noting that both the Egyptian International Agriculture Centre, and the Egyptian Supreme Media Council provide fully covered for African cadres in different aspects of agriculture and media respectively about ten nominees yearly.

He said the Ministry of Interior of Egypt has opened the call for two-year academic scholarship at the Police College for two Liberian cadres.

Ambassador Ahmed Abd El Azeem Zeinhom Abd El Shakour Farghaly used the occasion to congratulate Liberia on the candidacy as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2026-2027, wishing all the best to represent the African voices and admiration for international peace and security.
