CPP-Cummings Sets 1st 100 Days Deliverables Ahead of Campaign Launch Tomorrow

IPNEWS: Liberia goes to the polls election on October 10, 2023, to elect their President, Vice President, County, Senators, and Representatives, and the opposition Collaborating Political Parties (CPP), poised to challenge incumbent President Goerge Manneh Weah, in what is termed as one of the decisive elections in Liberia’s 2023 election.

Even though there remains serious difficulties and challenges that lie ahead of such a mission, the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP), says it is equally aware of the many opportunities and goodwill that lies ahead of the pathway to achieving its goal of winning the October 10,2023.

With the unflinching support and commitment of majority of Liberians, the CPP stand to overcome the difficulties and challenges, including seizing the opportunities and good will to give Liberia what it deserves in getting out of poverty, especially from bad governance, and lack of public trust in the governance structure of the country.

Importantly, the restoration of the image and credibility of Liberia with the International community after many worse years under the Weah-led government to attract credible international investors is off paramount urgency.

The Collaborating Political Parties (CPP), under a Cummings Administration is confident for a massive deliverable within its first 100 days that will elevate the living standards of all in an impactful manner for ‘real change’.

The Cummings Administration is determined to do things differently on day one of his inauguration by ensuing there will be no state sponsored inauguration ball.

The CPP manifesto highlights primary focus of the Cummings administration to find funds to regularize salary payment for government employees; the implementation of mandates to improved pay and conditions of service for civil servants, especially the security sector employees, healthcare workers and teachers.

The CPP administration says it shall Offer microloans to small businesses including market women to expand and obtain credit worthiness, including the launch of a $20 million empowerment fund to support women and youth owned businesses as well as farmers through the provision of microfinance schemes for new businesses and farmers to kick start focus on entrepreneurs and enterprise development to support SME business incubation.

The Cummings led government seeks to freeze all taxes and regulations at current levels while reviewing the appropriate business friendly, tax and regulatory environment, including the convening of a forum with farmers and agribusiness experts from across the country to make recommendations on how to double Liberian rice production within 2 years, cut the price of Liberian rice by 25%, and improve the quality of Liberian rice seed.

The CPP says it shall begin the enforcement of the “Liberianization” policy; immediately after the conduct an audit of all businesses that are operating under the category secured for Liberians only, and also institute the adoption of “Buy Liberian” procurement and maintenance policy by all government apparatus and parastatals to support domestic businesses.

Youth Programme

Mr. Alexander B. Cummings manifesto states that his government shall establish a National Youth Service Program to place Liberian youths in positions/job opportunities in service to their communities, by launching a decentralized rehabilitation programs to address the issue of disadvantaged youths (zogoes).

Alside this, the CPP shall create immediate jobs for youth to rehabilitate social infrastructure, including schools, community health centers, and sanitation facilities in their communities.

Commerce & Trade

Under its determination to revive the economy, the CPP states that it shall review port operations, tariffs, fees, charges to clean up and streamline import and export Processes.

Sanitation and Waste Disposal

In its efforts to maintain a safer environment, the CPP under the Cummings led government shall complete the revision of the solid waste management system to address the current looming health crisis – initiate effective garbage collection and transportation to an engineered sanitary landfill.

Rule of Law and Protection

The Collaborating Political Parties says it shall institute a robust Police reform to ensure safety of citizens.

Essential Medicine Supply

The CPP said it shall ensure an effective distribution of drugs to hospitals and clinics using private companies where necessary. As part of its determination to supply quality essential drugs to the Liberian population, the CPP says it shall ensure the sign into law the bill making drugs smuggling and other related offenses non-bailable, including the aggressive move to cease the importation and trafficking of drugs in Liberia and launch the WAR ON DRUGS program.

Fiscal National Budget

The CPP manifesto states that it will reprioritize the budget for next budget year to focus on the necessary things affecting the Liberian people and drive towards a $1 billion budget. As part of this process it shall review waivers and exemptions to ensure government revenues can be effectively collected, by initiating revision of the tax code for simplification and maximum tax collection, and introduction of  e-governance policies to ensure standardization across government.
