By Taisiah K. Merfee

The wife of the political leader of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP), Madam Theresa Cummings, on Saturday, July 28, ignited her nation-wide community tour by touring a slum Community of 12th Street, Sinkor, Monrovia.

Mrs. Cummings said that her tour is intended to know the actual living conditions of the people, mostly women and girls who she believes are the most vulnerable of the Liberian society.

“The only way you can feel a person’s condition is to come see for yourself.

You can’t know how the people are feeling by only talking but to see for yourself,” she said.

During her assessment tour, she was informed by the community dwellers about their deplorable living conditions that they asserted have come from bad governance.

In furtherance, they also called on Mr. Cummings’ wife to assist the community by creating drainages in the community to help them get a way out of the flooding that they face during heavy downpour of rain.

Following her tour, Mrs. Cummings said those slum dwellers are being challenged with sickness such as malaria and other illnesses, which, according to her occur, because of the flooding the community faces.

Meanwhile, Madam Cummings promised to help the flood victims to stop the flooding experience by the community during the annual rainfall.

She assured the community members that she will meet with the political leader of the CPP to ensure that the needful are done for the inhabitants of the community.

Describing herself as the neck of Alexander Cummings, Madam Cummings assured those Liberians that when her husband gets elected president of Liberia on October 10, 2023, she will continue to pressure him to do the needful for everyone to have a better living condition.

At the same time, the chairperson of 12th Street Women Association, urged Mrs. Cummings to assist the women of the community to get their children out of drugs.

She urged the CPP first lady to help provide micro loans for women of the community, adding that the micro loans will be used as an empowerment for women and as well used to help their children out of drugs.

Meanwhile, Montserrado County’s CPP District #9 representative aspirant, Mr. Fobbie Henries cautioned members of the district to be wise of political gifts.

He asserted that politicians will come with promises and presenting gifts in the request of another six years, but he wants the inhabitants of district 9, in which 12th Street is located, to accept the gift and make the right choice by electing the CPP to liberate them from their current state of being.
