Liberia – Outgoing Ghanaian Ambassador Bids Farewell to Foreign Minister Kemayah

–As Minister Kemayah Extols Ghana for Continual Bilateral Support

Foreign Minister Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Sr., has expressed gratitude to the outgoing Ghanaian Ambassador, Mr. Kwabena Okubi-Appiah for the level of assistance Ghana continues to render the Government and people of Liberia.

Minister Kemayah also praised Ambassador Okubi-Appiah for the role he played in strengthening the bilateral and historic ties subsisting between the sisterly Republic of Ghana and Liberia.

Foreign Minister Kemayah made the commendation Wednesday, June 28, when the outgoing Ghanaian Ambassador paid a farewell courtesy call on him at the Foreign Ministry followed by a bilateral discussions between the two diplomats.

Foreign Minister Kemayah, who spoke on behalf of his Government at the meeting, said President George Manneh Weah sincerely extends gratitude and best wishes to the Outgoing Ambassador for his successful tour of duty in Liberia, “saying Liberia recognizes the role Ghana played in the peacekeeping operation and the stability of Liberia, as well as the sustenance of peace and harmony in the sub region.

The Liberian Foreign Minister also used the occasion to point out the pivotal role the Republic of Ghana played by hosting thousands of Liberian refugees during the dark days of the Liberian civil war.

He stated that as Ambassador Okubi-Appiah takes leave of Liberia, it is a memorable time for Liberians as the nation celebrates 20 years of uninterrupted peace and stability following the cessation of hostilities in the country.

The Minister also noted that the peace and stability Liberians are enjoying today come from the backdrop of the sacrifices made by the African brothers and sisters including the people of Ghana.

The Dean of the Cabinet further reiterated the unwavering commitment and determination of President George Manneh Weah to ensure a peaceful, fair, transparent and inclusive electoral process in Liberia on October 10, 2023, and during the post electoral period.

For his part, the outgoing Ghanaian Ambassador praised Liberian Foreign Minister Kemayah for the warm reception as well as the bilateral assistance accorded him during his tour of duty in Liberia, adding “my task is over and I will be returning home”.

Ambassador Okubi-Appiah told the Liberian Foreign Minister that his tour duty was very interesting and pleasing, marked by excellent cooperation stressing” I wish to express thanks for all the cooperation that made  my work smooth in Liberia. “

In keeping with diplomatic practices, the Outgoing Ghanaian Ambassador said he had come to the Ministry to inform the Foreign Minister that his stay in Liberia is over.

Ambassador Okubi-Appiah also recalled that his tour of duty in Liberia has been marked by great achievements with a deep sense of memory.

Ambassador Okubi-Appiah indicated that during his diplomatic service in Liberia, he was privileged to interact with key Liberian government officials and other personalities within the country including serving on the 2023 Steering Committee of the National Elections Commission.

The Outgoing Ghanaian envoy specifically referenced, to the Minister Kemayah that he worked in Liberia with key political actors during the crisis era.
