Opposition Missing Lots – MPC Political Leader Tells Citizens

By Taisiah K. Merfee

IPNEWS-Monrovia: The political leader of the Movement for Progressive Change Simeon Freeman says the opposition community is missing lots when it comes to pushing their agenda.

The MPC political leader says that the opposition community is missing a lot and giving opportunity to the ruling government due to their refusal to collaborate.

Speaking in an interview with journalists Monday, May 22, 2023 at his Brewerville, Banjor resident, Mr. Freeman indicated that the opposition is missing the key issues that need to be discussed.

He said if the opposition community must win the upcoming elections there is a need for the opposition to come together in united front that will see the CDC government not being elected.

The Liberian businessman now political leader of the MPC says the opposition community is not united when it comes to moving the agenda of the country this is only because that one person sees himself as major factor in the upcoming elections.

Commenting further he says how many political parties have the financial capacity to hire poll watchers for the upcoming elections this is something that all political parties and leaders from the opposition need to know and see how best they can work on it.

“We might participate in a process that will confirm the winner but if we cannot come to a common understanding it will be hard for us the opposition community”.

He said the Lofa County By-election is one of the clear examples of what he is talking about where the Unity Party and the CDC participated in the election but the UP was unable to pay it poll watchers something that needs to be taken serious.

Mr. Freeman said the Liberian people don’t need a leader that will only be talking but a leader that will be there to solve the bread and butter problem.

The MPC political said as part of his political activities the party will this Tuesday conduct its National Convention in Paynesville at which time he will be naming his running mate.

He told the OK FM morning Rush Monday edition that Liberians should not be thinking on running mate problem but rather should talk about a leader who will be able to transform the country and its people.

At the same time Mr. Freeman has angrily blasted the Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Justice, particularly Justice Minister Cllr. Frank Musa Dean for what he terms as “irresponsible face shielding” comment against the Judiciary branch in the US$1 million cocaine jury trial.

The Ministry of Justice over the weekend described as appalling the not guilty verdict of Criminal Court “A” of the first judicial Circuit of Montserrado County at the Temple of Justice presided over by Judge A. Blamo Dixon in the 100-million drug trial.

Justice Minister Frank Musah Dean says the verdict clearly undermines the collective efforts of Liberia and its international coalition to clamp down on the illegal transit of illicit drugs using West Africa as the conduit to trade narcotics internationally from Latin America and elsewhere.

He said for Liberia to play its role effectively in this international fight against drug trafficking, money laundering, and other crimes associated with illicit drug transportation and sale, all three branches of the government must take this fight as a collective responsibility and not just the executive.

“If the Executive through the Joint Security of the country, working in concert with their international counterparts, is ramping up the strife to apprehend and bring to book illicit drug traffickers and money launderers, our drug laws must compliment such efforts through appropriate legislations, and the courts must be ready to act in conformity with the laws and gravity of the breach of our laws, Liberia’s Attorney General asserted.
