The Township Commissioner, eminent citizens and people of Cinta Township say their attention has been drawn to reports about illegal sand mining being carried out by the Jeety Rubber LLC, a Rubber production company under construction in Weala Town, Cinta Township in Margibi County.
According to a press release issued in Monrovia, the citizens described such report as false and misleading only intended to tarnish the hard-earned reputation of Mr. Upjit Singh Sachdeva (also known as Jeety) and his conglomerates.
The citizens in their statement said although the Jeety Rubber LLC, a rubber production company in Weala Town, is engaged in sand mining, the proper procedure to do sand mining in Weala Town was fully followed by the company through the acquisition of permits from the Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Lands, Mines and Energy.
“We wish to further state that the Jeety Rubber LLC is mining sand from its leasehold property on both sides of the river and the sand is only used for the construction of the Jeety Rubber LLC and its premises situated in Weala Town. At no time has any truck been carrying sand out of Cinta Township. We category deny such false and baseless accusations that has no iota of truth about Jeety Rubber LLC selling sand in Cinta Township,” the citizens said.
The citizens said a temporary permit to conduct sand dredging on personal property, which was issued on August 15, 2022 and subsequently expired February 15 2023, was issued to the rubber company through its Chief Executive Officer Mr. Jeety. On January 19, 2023, few days to the expiration of the permit, the citizens said a new permit was issued to the Jeety Rubber LLC for the period of six months. This renewed permit will expire in July 2023. The two dredging permits are in the possession of the township.
The citizens said, following the issuance of the August 15, 2022 dredging permit, Mr. Jeety held a meeting with the people of Cinta Township and made it clear to them that even though he followed the proper channel to acquire a permit to engage in sand mining on his own property, howbeit, he would still pay the amount of $2.00 per truck load of sand to them as community fees. To match words with action, on August 27, 2022, Mr. Jeety presented a check of 1,000.00 United States Dollars to Cinta Township, the Cinta Township citizens disclosed.
This check, according to Cinta Township citizens, was given back to Mr. Jeety on February 14, 2023 but was subsequently rejected by him (Mr. Jeety) on grounds that he would like to see them use the amount for the development of the township, a statement the Commissioner and his people agreed to abide by.
The release further states that the citizens frowned on individuals engaged in the widespread of fake news and further urged them to desist as such unprofessional behavior as it has the propensity to drive away Mr. Jeety and his conglomerate from Cinta Township, which has brought great relief to them.
The citizens disclosed that they were indeed grateful to Mr. Jeety for choosing Cinta Township for his $30 million United States Dollars investment in rubber production, adding that such an investment stands to bring about meaningful development to their township and its surrounding areas.
Meanwhile, Citizens of Cinta Township say they are grateful to President George Weah and his Government for making it possible for the construction of the Jeety Rubber LLC in Cinta Township.
