Fire Disaster Hits Soniwein Community, Thousands of Dollars’ Worth of Properties Destroyed

An alarming fire disaster has destroyed a three bedroom house on Warren Street, Block ‘B’ Soniwein Community, District # 8, Montserrado County. The fire incident which started around 8::45 PM, walloped thousands of dollars’ worth of properties that belonged to the six occupants of the damaged structure.

Fire disaster victim Edward Kerkulah – He has sent out an SOS for help

Speaking to IPNEWS after quelling the fire, the principal occupant of the house, Mr. Edward Kerkulah indicated that the exact cost of the fire was not established but was later informed by his siblings that the house was on fire. He said he lost more than $20,000 USD in the fire disaster. Mr. Kerkulah lamented the length of time he took to acquire his properties and lost them in so short period, He is however appealing to District # 8 Representative, Acarous Moses Gray, Mr. Prince Toles and other prominent citizens of district to his aid especially in renovating the building because according to him, there is nowhere to stay on the main time.

Commenting further, was the Community Chairman of Block ‘B’ Warren Street & Soniwein Community, Mr. Tarley Johnson who expressed grave concern about the fire disaster and lamented the challenges community dwellers have to go through in order to maintain themselves and to see them experience such incident, is unthinkable and unbearable. He is at the same time appealing to philanthropic organizations, politicians as well as private citizens to assist the fire victims with building materials to enable them reconstruct another dwelling home, because he said as of last night, the six occupants of the house are currently lodging in the dilapidated structure.

Meanwhile, Mr. Tarley Johnson thanked the Liberia National Fire Service and residents of Soniwein for swiftly responding to the community’s call for help. The Community Chairman is cautioning all community dwellers to be careful with their electrical appliances to avoid the occurrence of such disaster. Mr. Johnson said residents must unplug all appliances before leaving their homes, adding you may not be at home when similar incident could happen.
