Simeon Freeman Takes Over Millennium Hotel – Eyes Movie Industry

IPNEWS: Businessman and politician, Simeon Freeman, and his Consolidated Group of Companies, operator of DSTV-Liberia, have taken over the Millennium Hotel, renaming it Sinkor Palace.

Located in the Sinkor Suburb of Monrovia, the newly opened Sinkor Palace is more than a 150- bedroom modern hotel. It meets international standards and almost half its staff are Liberians.

Speaking Thursday, January 26, 2023, at an event Mr. Freeman, the Palace will have a business club where high-profile business executives and ambassadors or members of the diplomatic community can have exclusive time.

The Sinkor Palace, according to him, will also contain a swimming pool, five restaurants, including a special Indian restaurant, due to the vastness of the Indian population in Liberia.

“Rooms here will be affordable, and our goal is to make the Sinkor Palace a one-stop shop modern hotel facility with a goal to make you feel at home”, Mr. Freeman said.

Freeman also said he has started construction works on the Roberts International Airport, RIA, with the vision of creating a new city by the end of 2023. “I am also interested in the tourism sector because it can make a huge impact in the overall development of our Country,” he said.

The business tycoon disclosed that while he is investing in real estate, he wants to get involved with the Liberian movie industry with a plan to invest a whooping four million United States Dollars in the sector to put Liberian movies on pad with other Countries in the Region.

“A vibrant movie industry as I envisage it, is essential to the development of Liberia. It will be called LIB-9,” Mr. Freeman also disclosed.

He observed that there are many Liberians that have skills to produce very good movies like others in Nigeria and other countries, but do not have much needed support.

Freeman reminded Liberians that filmmaking is a gigantic sector that is capable of attracting more money to the Liberian economy.

Commenting on the pending 2023 presidential and legislative elections, the Movement for Progressive Change or MPC political leader, who twice contested the Liberian presidency, said he looks forward to a free and fair elections.

The businessman and politician few weeks ago disclosed his intention to contest the coming elections, but said as a prolific businessman and visionary, he is not desperate and does not have to become president before he survives.

Noted for speaking critical national issues, the MPC political leader was among other Liberians that called for the prosecution of former chairman of the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission, Cllr. Ndubuisi Nwabudike, who faked his Liberian nationality and served some high positions in the Government.

During a news conference in Monrovia, Mr. Freeman gave President Weah a verbal warning, asking him to dare not meddle with the prosecution of the former LCC Chairman, who had resigned under pressure.

“Today there is celebration around that Cllr. Nwabudike has resigned, but you see, let’s not forget that the crime was committed not just by himself, but by the President and the Senators who confirmed this man,” the MPC leader told reporters.

He challenged the Government of President Weah to bring criminal charges against Nwabudikei and have him punished for lying to the Liberian people, pretending to be a citizen when he was not.

It can also be recalled that the opposition MPC’s Political Leader criticized the ruling Coalition Government for allegedly failing Liberians of the lack inclusion.

“I don’t see the inclusion of opposition political parties in this CDC Government, and this is why they are failing in steering the affairs of this Country because they lack a government of inclusion,” the MPC political leader said on November 9, 2022, while speaking to a local radio station in Monrovia.

His vision, according to him, is to help make Liberia a prosperous nation by investing immensely in the private sector. David N. Targbe writes
