Man, 32 Beaten to Death on Year New Day in Buah District, Grand Kru County

IPNEWS-Buah District: Police in Grand Kru County, South-southeastern Liberia are investigating two men linked to the death of a 32-year old man identified as Jefferson Bioh in Buah District.

Suspects, James Wiah and Andrew Bloh were arrested following a fight that allegedly led to the death of 32-year-old, Jefferson Bioh.

The incident, according to eyewitnesses account is being investigated through the Crime Services Department (CSD) of the Liberia National Police.

According to the LNP, the 32-year-old deceased, while in route to his house shortly following a fight, was chased by the two men [who initially fought him] and hit him several times at a local entertainment center in Buah Jilteken community with (sticks) they had in their hands, thereby causing him to fall off before being rescued by onlookers who rushed him (Jefferson) to a nearby health facility. Upon reaching the health facility, the 32-year-old man was pronounced dead by health authorities; a situation that led to the arrest and investigation of Andrew and James who are identified as prime suspects in the death of Jefferson Bioh.

Speaking to our Grand Kru Reporter, the Superintendent of the Crime Services Department (CSD) of the Liberia National Police (LNP), Supt. Maxwell Tarwily called on citizens of the area to exercise restraints and assured them that the LNP will do everything possible to professionally handle the situation and ensure that justice is dispensed timely and adequately.

The LNP-CSD commander said the two suspects have been charged with Murder and will shortly be forwarded to court for persecution. He spoke in an interview with our correspondent on Thursday January 5, 2023 via phone.

Meanwhile, several residents of the community, told our correspondent that this is the first of its kind for their community to have such a terrible experience of fight resulting into the death of a citizen and called on the requisite authorities to expedite the matter in order to restore hope and allay fears amongst citizens of the area.
