‘Mr. Smith’ Complains Musicians Union to GOL

A prominent Liberian musical artist, Rokenzy G. Smith, popularly known as Mr. Smith Lib. Money has complained about negative events unfolding within the Musicians Union of Liberia.

In his complaint via an official communication addressed to Ledgerhood Julius Rennie, Minister of Information, Cultural Affairs & Tourism (MICAT), Mr. Smith claimed that some individuals, led by Tony Kabadeh and others in the office of Cultural Ambassador, Madam Juli Endee, have released a listing to the public under the guise of being the leadership of the Musicians Union of Liberia in the absence of an electoral process.

“Therefore, it is prudent to have you informed that during the last election held in 2019, I contested for the presidency of the Musicians Union of Liberia. Unfortunately, the elected head of the union has left the country upon assuming leadership,” he stated.

He added: “It’s sad to state that his departure has left the institution without a leadership although within the period under review, the tenure of the President expired since February 2022.”

He is therefore drawing the attention of the Minister to unfolding issues within the Musicians Union of Liberia the sector that falls under his Ministry for supervision.

“Regrettably, Hon. Minister, instead of allowing a legitimate election to be held and spearheaded by your Ministry, a group of unscrupulous individuals have illegitimately taken over the leadership of the Musicians Union of Liberia.”

According to Mr. Smith, these issues he is decrying cannot be allowed to be swept under the carpet without categorically disagreeing about the existence of what he terms as a pseudo leadership structure of the Musicians Union of Liberia.

In order to avert this clear and present danger, the aggrieved musical star has humbly called on the office of Minister Rennie for swift intervention on grounds that in a democratic state, this attitude being exhibited by the individuals involved is completely uncivilized and illegitimate.

“I am of the conviction that with your prompt intervention, Hon. Minister, and by you halting this situation, the Musicians Union of Liberia will return to normalcy and stability,” Mr. Smith indicated.
