UN Women Liberia Ends Two-day Training for Grand Kru Women

As  Barclayville City Corporation Fetes Children in Grand Kru County

IPNEWS: The United Nations Women in Liberia (UN Women) have concluded a two-day training workshop for the women of Grand Kru County, under the theme: “Promoting Inclusive Political Participation and Elimination of Violence against Women in Politics.”

Barclayville city mayor, Benetta Blomoh thanked UN Women through their representatives in the county for their recognition of the women in the county, adding her office is opened to working with the current leadership.

During the workshop, Elections were held, and Mrs. Yeanie Suah was elected as Speaker, Comfort Doe as Deputy Speaker of the UN Women in the County.

During the induction ceremony of the Speaker and other officials, Mrs. Suah stressed that women’s participation in decisions that most affect them, the training will help afford them the opportunity to make their way into both the political sector and other important sectors in the country.

She promised to make sure that the voices of the woman in the county are heard, adding she will work tirelessly to see the success of Grand Kru women, in making sure that their political rights are protected.

Madam Suah at the same time called on women in the county to remain focused and develop confidence in their achievements as women of the county and country at large.

Meanwhile, the Barclayville City Corporation (BCC) has held a daylong party for children in Grand Kru at the Barclayville City Hall, bringing together thousands of children in the county.

The Mayor of City Barclayville, Madam Benetta Blomoh on Sunday, August 28, 2022 said the children party was intended to help build harmony and togetherness of children Grand Kru County.

According to her, when such activities are held for children, they will always be happy and feel comfortable with their friends, especially when they are singing, dancing and performing dramas together.

She believed that children togetherness in the county is the only way to create a source for development – teaching them togetherness and keeping them more focused as future leaders of our country.

She at the same time clarified that, the interactive program of children having fun will help draw them far away from being afraid of one another, especially when it’s time to express their thoughts in the presence of their friends. Writes Fedrick Kumeh in Barclayville, Grand Kru County
