Dr. Jomah Intensifies Call for Thirty-five Months’ Salary Arrears

–Protests at US Embassy in Monrovia

IPNEWS –Monrovia: On the day marking the 175th National Flag Day, August 24, 2022, Monrovians woke up early to the noise of another protest by the Students Unification Party of the University of Liberia on their Fix the country campaign. Coincidentally, Dr. Nykoi Jomah, Director of Livestock Aquaculture Fishery Program at the Central Agriculture Research Institute (CARI) based in Bong County, was also positioned in front of the U.S. Embassy on Benson Street protesting against what he called a grave human rights violations of thirty-five months without pay.

Dr. Jomah explained to IPNEWS Wednesday, August 24 that the authority at CARI has refused to pay him because he blew the whistle on half of million dollars that were about to be siphoned by the heads at CARI. He further intimated that the half of a million dollars  in question were sent by partners  for the Fishery program under Dr. Jomah’s supervision but according to him, when the partners verified that Dr. Jomah was not a signatory to the account, the funds, were channeled properly thus causing reprisals against him.

Dr. Jomah indicated that the reprisal against him is being led by the now sanctioned and suspended Mr. Nathaniel F. McGill, who he said was working through Madam Paula Findley, a very close confidant of his at CARI. He said Madam Findley is currently a fugitive for alleged corruption act against her.

Dr. Jomah noted that he has written Mr. McGill but according to him McGill has indicated to him that he McGill doesn’t want him at CARI, something, he said was unlawful since he is a civil servant not a political appointee.

Speaking further, Dr. Jomah who admitted being in the employ of CARI told IPNEWS that the Independent Human Rights Commission has ruled in his favor on the matter and still CARI is not respecting the laws of the country because of those he described as higher-ups in government.

Dr. Jomah revealed that the current Officer-in-Charge, one Mr. Victor Sumo asked him (Jomah) to waive his salary arrears of USD75,000 and 3 Million LRD, and that if he Victor was to ever dream of paying Dr. Jomah, he would lose his job.

He narrated that Mr. McGill is actively working in the government by his presence in Bong County on Sunday, August 21 under the Security escort of the Executive Protection Service (EPS) despite his suspension by President Weah which was prompted by the Global Magnitsky Act that sanctioned Mr. Nathaniel McGill and other officials of the Weah- led administration.

He wants critical voices as well as the United States government, Civil Society actors, the Media, and the National Legislature to intervene on his behalf to ensure that he gets his just salary owed him because according to him, his family is starving.
