FIRST TIME VOTERS ASSOCIATION OF LIBERIA CONDEMNS VIOLENCE By CDC-COP

IPNEWS: A group calling itself the First-time voters Association, has condemned in the strongest term recent aggression against the Student Unification Party-SUP.

The Group started in a release that after carefully analyzing the recent “Fix The Country” protest held at the United States (US) Embassy on the 26th day of July 2022, the First Time Voters Association of Liberia (FTVAL), it strongly condemned the unprovoked, violent attack, torture and humiliation, on peaceful protesting students of the University Of Liberia under the banner of the Student Unification Party (SUP) by the Congress for Democratic Change-Council of Patriots (CDC-COP).

The First Time Voters Association of Liberia for immediate investigation, arrest and prosecution of all those that were involved in this lawless and heartless situation.

“This is an unacceptable disruption of Liberia’s fragile peace and creeping lawlessness which must not be tolerated in this present day society.”

“The FTVAL is calling on all citizens to stay away from violence. The right to protest is a fundamental right, guaranteed under Article 15 (Freedom of Expression) And Article 17 (Freedom of Peaceful Assembly) of the 1986 Liberian Constitution. It is the right of every Liberian to peacefully assemble and speak against ills in the society. The conduct carried on by the CDC- COP has the propensity to undermine the peace and stability of our beloved nation.” Alpha the Great Daniel, Executive Director, First Time Voters Association of Liberia

The First Time Voters Association of Liberia is the conglomeration of youth and students, some of whom have been affected directly and indirectly by the negative impacts of these acts of violence.

The group further calls upon the CDC, especially PRESIDENT George Manneh Weah, to take administrative action against their COP for carrying out those heartless and vicious acts by their partisans. Severe consequences will serve as deterrent to other youth groups inclined to perpetrate violence.

“We furthermore called on President George M. Weah for his quick intervention in the medical care of student Christopher Walter Sisulu Sivili, to seek medical treatment out of the country and also to assure the general public that justice will be served to all those victims that were victimized by this wicked act.”

“The First Time Voters Association of Liberia is calling upon the Independent National Commission on Human Rights (INCHR), the Liberia National Police and the Ministry of Justice to take seize of this urgent matter by launching speedy investigations into such horrendous actions and to keep the public progressively informed.”

“The First Time Voters Association of Liberia wants to assure the general public that this matter will not be laid to rest until justice is served.” First Time Voters Association of Liberia, release noted.
